I have never said where I met my fiancee. IF I did meet her in a bar,,its no big deal to me,,,the point I'm trying to make is most guys on here pat themselves on the back "for not marrying a bg"

but yet sit in front of the pc and "pic one out of a virtual lineup" they may have their clothes on on the date sites,,,but its still the same game and these guys somehow cant see that.

I also called them out on there former marriages and they wont admit to being divorcees.

My overall point is that I said most of the guys who have foreign fiancees have wrecked marriages and found there ladies online or in a bar,,,,,,thats all,,very simple

just a discussion,,not steroetyping or making fun at anyone,,just pointing out a demographic here and these guys are in complete denial about me actually being right

You are either being coy, or in denial. Which is it?

Lots of folks have been married & divorced. Not sure why you seek to make people "admit it". What's the big deal? I'm twice divorced. Never tried to hide it.

He thought he was going to be an old maid, but some tan girl got her hooks in him. Been there, no escape! He might as well get used to the idea. His life is ruined forever! (But in a good way )

Ah! Sorry for that earlier comment then. I needed a much clearer post from you on what you were driving at. Your point here actually makes so much sense. I'm just hoping you're not another one of them trolls.

My husband and I met online through a dating website (eharmony, to be exact), but we actually pursued a relationship only after we met in person. We were in our late twenties. We both worked. i've never asked him to send me money for my family.

I hate seeing and hearing people generalize relationships that start online like it's another one of the moneymaking scams women from 3rd world countries do. It's an unwelcome stereotype I have since struggled dealing with.

Online dating exists. Just gotta choose the non-sleazy ones.

Lots of folks have been married & divorced. Not sure why you seek to make people "admit it". What's the big deal? I'm twice divorced. Never tried to hide it.

Unfortunately, there are loads more in the actual world that deny it. That CFO seminar I attended said they've had more than a couple of girls looking to be married to people who actually had 2-4 divorces and were abusive. The girls were told lies.

And I'm sure they told you horror stories about how Americans are swingers, too, eh? Or maybe they changed their theme recently. I'm sure the stories change from time to time.

Me and my wife met through online.., crossing paths briefly in a Christian chat room, with a very shallow "hello" between us. But I didnt want to talk with anyone from the Philippines because of questioning their intentions, and she didnt want to get involved with anyone because she was living her dream career-wise. So it took awhile before we actually talked in depth. Neither of us really were crazy about pursuing a relationship for quite awhile after having first met. I still wonder sometimes how we ever got together. Sometimes things happen you never expected, and cant explain afterward. Being with her is the best thing that could have ever happened to me, but how we got together is still a mystery and a miracle.

Congratulations to your wife for finishing! Are you guys still stationed in the US?

And I totally agree... I had my own misconceptions of how American men are and he had his own stereotypes in his head, too. I'm glad I chose to email him and took the risks (i.e. complete stranger on the internet, long distance relationship) cause he is the best person I have ever met. :)

They probably do. But, abuse happens A LOT. These women are treated as commodities, as trophies or so-called proof of a man's virility or perceived attractiveness.

Vulnerability of a person to such schemes that start with promises of a "happier" life are inversely proportional to their income level and educational status. People who have lighter skin, eyes and hair are seen as more attractive and wealthier in Asian cultures. Hence, the presumption that Western men bring promises of a better life (when it is defined by a big bank account) is always made.

And therein lies the attraction (at least for some). Pinays seem to prefer the light-skins, and we (or at least me, and probably most here) love the darker skin and raven hair. Opposites attract? IDK

I am amazed by the lengths Pinays go to in an attempt to lighten their skin to "be more attractive". It's still hard to convince my wife that I find the brown skin WAY more attractive, though I do my part by constantly giving that "second look" whenever a dark-skinned Pinay passes by. headbonk.gifheadbonk.gif BEBEKO!! What was THAT for??? whistling.gifinnocent.gif

Haha! That's so funny. Interesting enough I find that East Asians (Koreans, Japanese) go through so much more methods to prevent tanning. The sight of a Japanese girl covered head to toe with a plastic mask over her face while going for a run is pretty common.

Thank you. She finished well, at Lackland AFB, and went on to get her citizenship right after that. I am proud of her. She is in the Air National Guard though, so we stay right here in Tennessee when they arent sending her someplace else. But in a week she leaves for 3 months at Ft Lee, Virginia. She begins her course work for Nursing school starting in January, which may or may not get interrupted by a couple overseas deployments. Time will tell, but cant put life on hold waiting for the hammer to fall.

Even if you're right why do you care? Does it impact your life somehow?

I lived in the Philippines for 3yrs and have visited numerous times since. Probably have as much or more time on Magsayay, Barretto, Fields, Check Point, Makati, Ermita etc... as anyone who post here and had a fantastic time. Never mistreated anyone and was rarely mistreated myself.

Met first wife while living in Olongapo at Bubbles in Ermita and it lasted 23yrs. Absolutely devistated when it ended (her midlife crisis she couldn't shake). I only got mildly depressed while she thought she needed something new or something else. Again I was devastated, but life goes on. As soon as I realized we were not going to recover, I never once thought of seeking out someone here in the states. I was almost 47 at that time, so realistically I might have met a fine person here in the states but that would likely involve a divorced woman with a child or children. I never had kids and never wanted any.

So I went online to Filipina dating sights, only seriously chatted with 2 ladies and in late Oct I was off to meet them. Asawa Ko met me at the airport in Manila (she's from Pitogo in Makati) and we had a good time that night but I had a flight to CDO the next morning to meet the other girl. We met and the first day was fine, but it quickly became obvious she was 27 going on 12 and it wasn't going to work (she was also as it was later discovered only looking for pesonality). So I cut my trip to CDO/Iligan short and returned to Manila. Michel and I now had some time to get to know each other and we fell hard for each other. And truth be told we had a good idea we were right for each other long before I ever arrived as our chats/phone conversations routinely averaged 6-10 hours daily. And I'll fully admit that Big Head knew this all along, but Little Head found the young lady from Iligan devistatingly maganda. Fortunately Big Head took control and I extended my intial stay twice to spend more time with Michel and we were engaged. Having blown my wad (pun intended) on that first trip, I wanted to go back and see Michel again before filing any paperwork, so I sold some of my high dollar audio video gear and returned 2.5 months later. My mom died on that trip which sucked, but the really good thing about that trip was that while Michel and I grew closer, I also got to know and love her family. I've even corrupted some of her nephews and brothers by taking them to Burgos in Makati. Michel doesn't mind because she knows I'm a ####### but as with my previous marriage "tapat ####### ko". Which means I'm a faithful #######. Now Michel and all of her sisters/brothers/nephews even point out maganda babae to me and we have a little laugh.

Bottom line, do what works for you and be yourself. Living a lie rarely works, so I suggest never starting. I love the Philippines and Michel and I will be returning in November for a month. We have a trip planned to take her sister and nephew to Angeles while we're there.

Mabuhay!!!
