Still no Oath, I had a friend contact my US Representative who she knows personally. Does anyone know if this will help or just a waste? Heres my story of what happened at my interview. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/484942-interview-experience-oakland-park-office/

Im going out of the country for 2 weeks on Tuesday, how much of a notice do they usually give you before the Oath?

I think another issue (and I apologise for raining on what's already a rather damp parade) is that you are leaving the country between your interview and your oath. I obviously do not know how many days you spent outside the country during your statutory period, but this anecdote should at least give you cause to research your conditions and perhaps consult with a solicitor before leaving:

Hmmmm. I didn't think about that. But I've only been out of the country for a week in the last 5 years. And my father is not doing well that the reason for my visit. I will contact my lawyer and see what she says. Edited March 21, 2014 by Dpeter736

It does seem that the Immigration Officer described in that scenario grossly over-reached and that you, having had only a week outside the United States during the statutory period, would be more than fine.

However, I remember reading somewhere that answering anything but "No" to the eight questions asked on your N-445 (the included form that arrives with your Notice of Oath Ceremony; see: http://www.ilw.com/forms/N445.pdf) could result in an Immigration Officer making a summary determination that you have voided your eligibility since an investigation on their part might require more time than the few minutes you have between checking in to the ceremony and when the ceremony actually gets under way. Obviously I'm no expert but I've even read fairly recently here on VJ that someone got a speeding ticket between morning interview and afternoon oath and they were fine with it. I wouldn't think traveling for two weeks is something that's going to stop you from taking the oath. They just need you to disclose these things.

Thank you for your concern. We FINALLY have some news. We called on Thursday and talked to a Tier 2 Officer who told us that our case was just approved on Thursday! So now we will just wait for the Oath which we are hoping will not take too long. I will post an update when we get the Oath letter.

David is now a citizen! Very glad to have this journey over...for my fellow Baltimore folks, it's not a hassle at all. Free parking, his interview was all of 30 minutes, mostly with the guy just going through papers; appointment was at 8am. We came back for the oath at 2pm and it was fairly crowded. Everyone got their packets, sang the national anthem, said the oath, listened to Barack talk about immigration, and basically that was it, under an hours time.

The only thing that kind of bothered me was that while there were some kids that were milling around before anything started, some woman came in and basically very rudely said to get the kids in their seats. I totally understand having kids sit down, but the way she said it was like they were things, not people, and I got a taste as an American citizen how immigration officials sometimes treat foreigners like second-class people. It really left a bad taste in my mouth.

But, other than that one person, the rest of the officials were very welcoming and made it a great occasion. Glad to be done with USCIS!

I also received the letter for interview scheduled on April 24th. I have a question: my appointment is at 2:30 pm and I will not be going to oath ceremony on the same day. Do you know when the oath ceremony will take place for such a case?

I too have an early-afteroon interview appointment in the same ball-park as yours; fellow Baltimore applicant also.

Due to my late appointment, I'm not expecting to have same-day oath even though it is frequently offered for Baltimore applicants, but hopefully it would be too much more of a wait.

Thank you. I believe i saw one case at this forum, with same status, interview in the afternoon at Baltimore office; and his ceremony was scheduled a week after. Hopefully this is true for us; as i need to travel for work soon.
