Hello again my fellow France/America couples! I need your help. My fiance and I just received the NOA2. (woo!!! - I feel like my life can move on now) We're assembling all the paperwork for Packet 3 and the interview. On the VJ Paris embassy page it says that my fiance will have to submit a letter stating that he has not served in the military. Where do we get this from? Please help. Thanks!

Hi !

I had the same question a couple of weeks ago:) It depends on his age cause the regulation has changed. If he is young enough he didn't have to do the full "service militaire" (that is I believe if he was born after 1978) then he probably did "la journée d'appel". He shall have a document saying he did. Lucie's advice was to copy the law explaining the "service national" regulation. He can find it on the legifrance website : http://www.legifrance.gouv.fr/affichCode.d...eTexte=20081204 then go to the left to see the entire regulation (especially chapter 2 : champ d'application).

So as a man I would try to bring :

1/ the document saying what I did (service nationale or journée d'appel). I'm sure he can ask for a copy to the autority in charge if he has lost it. His town hall can probably help him with this.

2/ a copy of the regulation

bon courage and congratulation for NOA2!!

les filles je crois qu'il est temps d'ouvrir une page spéciale cuisine !! :P

si vous pouviez y mettre vos meilleures recettes de galettes des rois je suis preneuse.. :)

back to the visa process I'm going to the medical tomorrow... it's moving on!!

Lili (and Kai) :star:

I don't have a good recipe or favorite recipe for galette des rois yet because this is the first time I won't buy it at la patisserie du coin!lol

So this year I will try this recipe! hope it will be good!

http://www.linternaute.com/video/25617/pra...lette-des-rois/

Plus it's a video too! So you can see how the guy is doing...it helps I think!

I have a question though concerning poudre d'amande. It doesn't exist here in the US. what is the best thing to do: cut almonds in tiny pieces with a knife or buy what it's called "almonds paste"??

I had to bring some back from Canada with me the last time I went. I couldn't believe you couldn't get it here! :o Probably the best thing to do would be to buy some almonds then grind them up in a clean coffee grinder or cuisinart. I just made almond cookies with some last night. Yum!

Anyway..... sorry to barge in on your thread like this  . I just wanted to ask if anyone had any recommendations on places to order online gifts in France. I have a relative in St Tropez that I would like to send something to but I'm unsure how to go about it. Any suggestions?

I found some Almond Powder at our local "green/organic" store. In our area it's called Greenlife and there is an other one called EarthFare. They had the almond powder in the refrigirate section with dried fruits, containers of Active Dry Yeast, etc.

Maybe you need to look in specialty stores or places like Fresh Market...

But then again grinding them with a food processor isn't that hard.

Thank you for the Galette des Rois recipe. I need to study it, I'd really like to make one this year and invite a few friends over.

hello

just wanna say my interview went ok!

I had the I864 instead of the I134 (supporting evidence) but it seems like it wasn't too much of a problem..

the consul was nice. She didn't ask for proof of ongoing relationship (pics, bording pass etc.). her main questions were: "who is your fiancé" "how did u meet", "when will u get married". now I'm hoping to get my passport back before the 30th (yeah I've already booked my flight:p).

I got there at 12.45 and left at around 3.30. when I arrived about 60 people where waiting in the hall it was pretty impressive.

So our 9 month K1 journey is about to end and we're soon to join the AOS one !!

thanks for all your advice in this process, I'm sure I will need your help in the very next future too :)

they said I should go back early Tuesday morning and tell the guard that they called me to come back for finger prints..

I mentioned my flight reservation which is Tuesday 30th.. I'll see on Tuesday with the Consul. I'm gonna try to arrange going back to the consulate myself to get the passport in hand instead of loosing time with the chronospost.. I hope they will consider this option. Otherwise I can only imagine myself missing my flight on the 30th and getting the chronopost on the 31st... ( :crying: )

My fingers are #######. You can hardly see the print when looking at it... there's not much I can do about it...

I'll keep u posted..

If it can make you feel better, I received my passport with the visa 3 days after my interview (by Chronopost), so once they have your fingerprints it should not take too long.
