Hi every one....My fiancée filled for a K-1 visa for me. I have gone through all the steps and will be going for my interview next month. My fiancée plans to be present for my interview. Is that good or bad. We just want to make sure that her presence is not perceived negatively. Please advice

Welcome to the forum.

Check out the Nigerian embassy info page for more information about USC attendance:

BTW, Per Guangzhou consulate policy, I was not able to attend my wife and stepson's visa interview last year, but I did go to provide help and emotional support. I felt that it was very important for be to be there at that special moment in our relationship. I was able to make the CO aware of my presence, take a look at my consulate interview review for details. Not sure if that is doable for you.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

In Nigerian VJ it is considered a good thing. Your fiancee being there will not guarantee an approval but it would speak for your ongoing relationship. Take her passport in with you when you go in for your interview. She will have to wait outside the embassy while you go in. At some point during the interview if the CO asks when she was there last or if she is there "now" you can say yes she is waiting for me outside. Tell him or her you have her passport with you if they like to see it.

Please keep in mind that a trip to Nigeria by your fiancee doesn't guarantee the outcome of your visa approval but it is a plus! Good luck!

Give the interviewing officer both of your passports before he/she has a chance to respond. This way, even if the petitioner cannot be present or is asked about, at least the consular officer knows he/she is present. It certainly cannot hurt.

A great misimpression among VJ members is that "if the petitioner isn't allowed in the interview, it makes no sense to go/makes no difference," etc.

The blunt answer is that it never hurts and could help if the petitioner is on the consular premises or nearby. See the pertinent passages in this thread:
