I have copies of all my tax returns that were generated from turbo tax. Can I file these with the I-134? Is it necessary or advisable to get transcripts from the IRS? Is there some sort of stamp or certification on these transcripts? I'm just being cheap and trying to save the $39 per copy. :hehe:

ovahimba,

I sent photocopies of my tax returns and W-2's. I also sent several months of bank statements along with a copy of my job offer letter. We were approved.

Some aquire IRS transcripts, not sure why.

Depends on the Embassy. Most will accept the transcripts, which are free. You can fax the request to the IRS. I have heard of one person, filing in Albania, who had to send in the certified copies at $39.00/copy each year, for a total of three years. See if the embassy can give you a straight answer.

Thanks for the quick info. I think I was on the wrong site. This one says something about $39 per year requested. http://www.irs.gov/faqs/faq1-6.html

The difference is a tax transcript versus the return itself. I would get the transcript and supplement it with your turbo tax copies

YMMV
