Incorrect Birth Certificate Information - split from The Stupid RFE Thread

There is a clerical error on my birth certificate and whoever the clerk was placed the hospital on the wrong city. For example, the hospital I was born in is actually in City A but the clerk put City B on my BC.

I have used City A on all of my documents - passport, tourist visa, PCC, school documents, work documents... everything!

Would I get flagged for that? Since they'll be looking at my BC and see that the birth city isn't the same as the city on my passport or forms but the hospital name is the same.

Just include a letter with the paperwork explaining the error. Everything should be okay.

Have you ever tried to get an updated, correct birth certificate? (If that's even possible.)

The above 2 posts were split from the 'RFE Thread" and made into its own topic as the OP is asking for advice about a specific situation and has not received an RFE.

When you are requesting specific information that is separate from the topic at hand, it is always best to start your own topic to ask that question. That way you are more likely to get appropriate responses with less confusion.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I've called up the city halls of both cities and neither knows what to do. The hospital doesn't know either so everyone's just kinda looking around trying to wait for a solution and 28 years later, still nothing. Nobody even has a clue how City B factored into the document. That hospital has never been outside of City A despite relocating twice.

I was thinking I would just include a hospital calling card or something. I would track down my mom's old ob-gyne or my old pedia so that they can just make a sort of "certificate" to say that I was born in City A. I'm not sure if it would be worth the trouble though.

But thanks everyone!

I assume you'd have to go through whatever government agency you register the birth with and obtain the birth certificate from to fix this issue. I don't think it's a town hall type of deal. Some sort of vital statics or birth registry.

I did call up the local statistics office and the answer they gave me was to raise the issue in city where the birth was registered. It may have been such a rare mistake that nobody knows what to do and I just keep getting passed around. I haven't had any problems with this in the Philippines cuz it's a pretty well-known hospital so they already know which city it's in even without checking the details of my BC. I have several friends born in the same year in the same hospital who didn't have this error. So weird that I'm the chosen one that this happened to lol.

Well... I'll be going home on Oct so I guess I'll have to prioritize fixing this so that when it's time to file the IV packet it'll be fixed. Hopefully. Whatever "fixed" means with my case.
