Hi..can i ask question related to this topic? What if my f filed the k1 petition a month before the 2 year limit of meeting each other..is it ok still? Or the whole process of k1 needs to be within 2 years that u have met? Thanks

You must have met each other in person within the last 2 years at the time of filing. If your petition was filed and the last time you met was 1 year 11 months ago, you are still within the time frame and you can file. This rule does not apply for the whole process, just at the time of filing the initial petition.

Thanks for the quick reply..i was confused and apprehensive about this issue..the last time we were together was april 2012 and he filed the petition and had our noa1 march25 2014. Waiting still for noa2. We waited for his citizenship before we filed..i was kinda relieved. Thanks again :)

Agreed with Zedayn. As long as you have your NOA1 already, that means uscis has already accepted your files, and will be assigned for review and approval in the next months. No need to worry now on the 2-year meeting requirement. However, I hope your fiance will have the chance to see you before and/or be with you during the interview. What you need to do now is to collate proofs that your relationship is real and on-going.

All the best!

The filing date must be within two years of the last day of the meeting in person.

It is ideal that he will be with you during the interview, but not necessary. You just have to convince the CO using your evidences that you and your fiance are in a genuine loving and on-going relationship. Also, is your son doing the CRBA?

No..my son is not qualified for crba...we already have a son when he became a US citizen..yes, hopefully we can convince the co, but having a son is a living proof that we have a genuine relationship, isnt it? My son carries his dads last name..so hopefully we can convince the CO and will be approve by Gods grace ?
