We did, but he didn't send me the original just a copy should be fine right? please say yes, i have enough with Indonesia postal service.

Luckily one of his friend visited here so he gave all the docs I'll need for the interview to his friend and hand over the docs to me.

You need to bring the form I-134 with his ORIGINAL SIGNATURE&DATE

W2 & 1040 can be copies/fax/scan

Just FYI, just got another notice from USCIS. This time saying that "On August 15, 2014, we shipped this approved or re-affirmed case to the Department of State for visa processing. For more information, please contact them directly."

So, I'm now going to say something that I'm pretty sure no one ever says about the US government: this is moving too fast! According to the information on this site,

The process of sending the approved I-129f from the Service Center (through the NVC) and arriving at the embassy takes about a month. The fiance(e) has 4 months from the time the I-129F was approved at the Service Center to obtain the K1 Visa at the US Consulate in the foreign country. This time period can be extended by a consular officer if required.

We're going to have to hope Sydney's consular officer feels like extending this, because he's actually going to be in the United States at that four-month mark (here for Christmas), and work obligations mean that he really can't immigrate here until March. Yikes! When we started this process, we did so thinking that we wouldn't get approved and moved to NVC/DoS until the middle-to-end of September!

A little over 3 months for NOA2, that is pretty fast! I don't think it'll be any problems to extend it. Once it gets to Sydney, email the embassy telling them you need more time.

Thank you for posting! I just checked and we got shipped too! woohoo!

I believe you are able to delay it when it gets to Sydney. It may take two to three weeks before it actually gets to Sydney. By that point you are at September. Then, your fiance can take his time filling out the forms, doing the medical/etc. They do allow a 4 month period from the date of your NOA2 for you to get all your paperwork and medical done. Then, he doesn't need to enter the united states until 6 months after visa approval. So, if you really want to, you can put off the medical for 3 months, have the interview in December, and he won't need to be in the US until May.

Glad to hear you got shipped too, ArianneChris!

"Unfortunately," my fiancé is going to be in the United States for Christmas. Sydney Consulate gives the K1 VISA the day of the interview, which means he cannot have his interview until January. Getting the paperwork and medical done isn't an issue (most of it is already complete); it's just that he's got an excellent short-term employment option that would be professional suicide to turn down (okay, not THAT bad, but not a smart decision any which way) for the first two months of 2014.

If the four months starts from the NOA2, then the time period actually ends in November; our NOA2 was issued on July 28th. (The first notice told us it was going to NVC. This one said DoS. I have no idea what the difference is, but hey, if someone knows, I'm all ears!)

A little over 3 months for NOA2, that is pretty fast! I don't think it'll be any problems to extend it. Once it gets to Sydney, email the embassy telling them you need more time.

I know! blink.png I'm not entirely sure how THAT happened. (Best I can say is: be really, really thorough. The application packet we sent in was over an inch thick, and I prepared a detailed index/table of contents of the document, complex with labeled tabs so that the reviewer(s) could flip through each section.) I'm hoping that he can actually work it so that he interviews right after flying back to Sydney, post-holidays. That'd be easiest on everyone, I think, and hopefully the Consulate won't have an issue with scheduling an interview for January when we contact them.

Hey folks - just wanted to let everyone with an NOA2 date around July 28 (same as ours) know where we are. I called NVC today and they received our packet last week, processed it on Friday the 23rd, and sent it to the Sydney Consulate on Monday the 26th. So we now have our case number (*squeak*); because we provided email addresses, they apparently will not mail a packet, they'll just email - for efficiency and speed.

Hope the rest of you are having good luck, too! (I'm still sort of caught in the whole "but when we applied in April they said USCIS wouldn't even have the request processed until the end of August/middle of September... this is all moving a LOT faster than I expected!)

You are free to guesstimate, but don't book a plane ticket yet until you have your visa in hand. Some VJers are put on hold under administrative processing after they have their interview. So we can't really have a precise estimation.

No, I wouldn't say that's the average.

Sooner option; K1 appointments are scheduled by the Embassy so they schedule you according to their availability.

Interviews can be anywhere from 1-2 months from submission of DS230. I've seen a trend, if you're on top of sending your docs it looks like interviews are approximately 2 months from NOA2,.but don't depend on my observations. There really is no way to guesstimate a date, AP can last from 3-8 weeks after interview. Recently I've seen people wait for visas for as long as 11 weeks after their interview and as short as 1 week.

Definitely, DONT even consider buying a ticket until the beneficiary picks up the visa from DHL. I've seen people on here get their feelings hurt purchasing tix that they couldn't use because they tried to guess the inner workings of the US Embassy.
