Hi everyone I'm new here.. I am from Aus and fiancé the usa. We decided to get a lawyer ( not sure it was the right choice but anyway) went to see him June 25th he then finally sent out docs off July 26th. But I haven't heard anything at all. I'm pretty sure he didn't do a 1145G form would that be why we haven't heard anything so frustrating already at its the beginning. Pretty sure I could have done a better job!!!!!

You will need to wait for the hard copy of your receipt notice(NOA1). It will most likely go to your lawyer. One you have your case# from that notice, you can sign up on the USCIS website to get your online status updates.

Yes, it is normal. It can take a few weeks to get the actual receipt notice in the mail. Sending the G-1145 allows you to get e-notified of your petition being accepted, so you actually know before receiving the hard copy letter.

NOA1 will send out to your lawyer and you too ( black and white format paper). However, NOA2 will be sent out to YOU ONLY. (color format).

When you got the NOA1 hard copy which has your case number. You can go to USCIS and sign up for your account by filling in your case number, email, phone number to get notification of any updates from USCIS.

Good Luck
