Can I go with my fiance to his interview?

My fiance's interview is at the US Embassy in London when I happen to be visiting him in January. Can I go with him to the US Embassy? He says that he doesn't think so since it asks for the letter for the interview, but I think that I should be able to since I'm a US citizen. Has anyone else accompanied their fiance to the interview? Should I just not go?

Thanks,

DG

my fiance also has an interview in London in January, and I just assumed that I would go. I have read about other people accompanying their fiances to the interview, and were just asked to step aside for a few minutes. I am definitely going

Going is a good idea, the consular officer will see this and it helps show relationship.

Good luck with the interview.

Some embassies let you in, others do not. Here in Accra they do not allow U.S. citizens to accompany fiances to the interview.

But in London, where the OP is going to, they do allow it.

True, but the point to be made here is that all consulates are not the same and it is best any non-Londoners who might read this thread to check out what local procedure is in there country. Do not assume that what happens in London (or anywhere else) will be the way it happens in your consulate.

Just another thought... Since this question comes up a lot, does anyone know if a compiled list exists that indicates what each consulates's local procedure is?

YMMV
