Did they take you to an interview room or was it all handled in the line? When I was in MIA last time I asked about it and the officer said we would have to go to an interview room. Just curious. Congratulations guys. You are on your way.

Nope, it was handled in the line, at the desk. That seems to be the way things generally play out at SFO according to the other reviews on VisaJourney:

congrats everyone... I was out of the country and a bit disconnected from everything trying to enjoy time with my fiancé.... haha... our case has not left the USCIS yet, at least according to their website... does anyone know if they update the case status in the system for all cases? or sometimes it happens and sometimes it does not.... I see that the post activity section says something like "this case has been shipped to the NVC for further processing".... to be honest, I have not wanted to call the NVC yet... haha... I do not want to hear the please wait up to four weeks haha... it has been almost two weeks since my approval.... I am so excited though....

I'm sure it'll be sent REAL soon, ours took more or less (a little less) the same amount of time if I'm not mistaken.

Just want to update everyone on where we are, as we do seem to be ahead of everyone else!

Last I wrote, we'd gone to the Consulate in Naples, had our interview, and gotten approved. We got the passport with the visa and the big packet to bring to the US back via DHL the day after the interview! Quick service.

On December 3 we left Italy and traveled together to the US. POE was San Francisco.

We went up to the "US Citizens" side of the customs line at the direction of one of the CBP officers. We went up to the counter together. I stated "I'm a US citizen, and this is my fiancee. He's entering the US on a K1 visa." His reaction was a dumbfounded "woah!" and it took him a second to recover.

But after that, he was extremely courteous and professional -- friendly even! He welcomed my fiance to the US and said "the hardest part is over now." He did remind us we have 90 days to get married. He also said that we were his first same-sex K1 to enter. I don't think he meant all of SFO -- just him personally.

That's it, I think. Just wanted to update that it was smooth sailing on entry with the visa. I'm sure some of you are a bit anxious about that.

Congratulations! Must have been a great feeling!

2 weeks mark our case is not yet received by NVC, per DOS. sighs....

NVC seems to be just a mail room. They recieve, repackage, and mail to the receiving embassy. It was on a Friday, after two weeks of receiveing email notification that our packet was mailed to NVC, I called and was told, nope, must be in the mail room, call back next week. So I called on Monday, technically it was "next week" and it was there and had been assigned an MNL number. Your number will serve you well for the rest of the processing. We had our interview at the end of last month, visa received on this saturday morning, and fly date this friday. Keep calling the NVC, daily. I had a mixed bag of people answering my call. It was a thirty minute wait each time, but hey. Some were super nice and some were like "what do you need that for?" As far as I could tell, they were only the middleman that mailed the case and assigned a case number. A drunken monkey could press the same buttons, but hey, they are required. keep calling. be patient and don't ever take it personal. They have a lot of calls coming and going. good luck guys.

Interview today in Vancouver, BC. Same-sex visa approved. dancin5hr.gif

huge congratulations.
