Hello everyone. I finally received word that my K-1 petition has been approved. It's certainly been long and stressful, but feels good to see some progress. I have outlined my journey for any that might be interested and also have some questions about what's next. Thanks to all for reading and good luck to everyone.

  • 02/07/2013 - Filed an I-129F petition
  • 02/13/2013 - Received a receipt number
  • 07/03/2013 - Premeptively reported to my Senator's Office that my case exceeded USCIS's 5 month process time via online and US mail (to authorize their inquiry)
  • 07/15/2013 - Received a phone call from the Senator's Office that they have inquired about my case and we will hear something within 45 days
  • 07/30/2013 - Received an approval email from the Senator's Office
  • Dear Mr. ,

Thank you for contacting me regarding your fiancé petition. As a result of my inquiry, I have been told that the California Service Center has approved the petition and will forward it to the National Visa Center for further processing.
Please be assured that I will contact you again as soon as I have any further information relating to this matter.
  • 07/30/2013 - What's next?
There are tons of useful posts all over these forums and sometimes I struggle to pieces all of the applicable information together. It's my understanding that in a few days I should be able to contact the NVC to get the our updated alien registration number. Upon receipt of the updated registration number, my fiancee can schedule her medical screening? Is all of that information correct?
  1. What is required to transfer this to the embassy in China electronically? It's my understanding this process is new - many report it's quicker, but I have heard of some major delays. Any thoughts or suggestions about this in-particular?
  2. How should we best prepare for the interview?
  3. I should also be filling out my Affidavit of Support.
  4. What else should I be focusing on?

Woo hoo!! Congratulations! That's great! dancin5hr.gif

I am not sure how China deals with interviews, or what they require- you should jump over to that forum!!

As for your case number, I got mine from NVC after 8 days, so I definitely wouldn't wait two weeks!! Especially if you want to book a medical exam soon!

Best of luck on the rest of your journey!

Hello!! Let me clarify some things--

2 weeks ago, we received our NOA2. 8 days from that, NVC was able to provide me with a case number. Once I knew they had my case, I waited for our status on te DoS website to say 'in transit', which took four days. Then, I had my fiancé book his medical with the Knightbridge doctors. That was two days ago that he did that, and they scheduled him for 15 days later, August 14.
