Understanding Service Requests

I called a Tier 2 Rep and inquired into what a service request is.

The answer I got was this:

"A Service Request is a request to the USCIS Service Center that has your application for an estimated date or time frame in which your petition will be Adjudicated. This date can be very general however, as if a country isn't yet completely computerized, the background checks may take an additional 4-8 weeks as the country will have to ship the files to the USCIS Service Center. This would mean that if the Immigration Officer checking into your case sees that you're beneficiary is from one of those countries, then you will get a very general date or time frame, which may not be what you're looking for."

I hope this answers someone else's question in the future. :)

Thank you for sharing. Did you end up filing a service request? I saw your other post. I filed in March and my file is at CSC and I see random approvals even from June files.... also I checked numbers up and down from mine.... same here

Hi..I've been checking approvals of late too and reading through the forums. Did any of you make a service request yet?

Our NOA1 was March 28 and I admit it does get a bit disheartening when you see others with dates later getting theirs throughClockWatch2.gif .

Did anyone manage to find any information at all out?

I did not make a service request, my file has only been waiting for 4 months. I felt it unnecessary as I'm not past my standard processing time. :)

The USCIS website has been having issues lately. Electronic Notification and the Case Status pages have been extremely unreliable. People have been getting NoA2 approvals in the mail, and their case status never changed never got an email/text, nothing. Some have called since they were past processing time only to find out from a Tier 2 Immigration Officer that they've been approved for weeks, and filed a SR to have the approval notice mailed to them "again".

My recommendation: If you're past processing time, call to speak with a Tier 2 Immigration Officer, you might already have an approval and you don't even know!

The USCIS website is scheduled to be down most of Sunday for "maintenance" I'm guessing they're taking it down to fix whatever they messed up. LOL
