Well as I told everyone, I was afraid all these congratulations are premature. There was another email tonight from the lady at the Visa Department:

Dear Ms G***.

I checked the computer this morning hopping that your visa was already printed but it is not printed yet.

The Consul approved yesterday but untill the visa is printed is not final.

I will check again Monday to see if was printed and I will keep you informed.

Good luck

Sue

So there was a 4 hour long total melt down for both of us. I have no idea if Cairo prints visas the same day or the next day or what. I am assuming if there was yet another issue it too would have been stated in the notes as a reason for not printing it. We are trying to remain hopeful that they simply haven't gotten around to it yet. This may be the longest weekend of my life. Not feeling the best tonight and I still need to get some dinner. Mohammed has been through the site today too, reading this thread.

I'm so sorry you are going through this anguish. I am sure it will happen soon, just stay positive.

I'll be keeping you both in my prayers. Insha'Allah you'll be hearing the great news on Monday. Just try to hang in a couple more days. You can do it.

:)

Allah tries his chosen people through many hardships, but those who persevere through adversity, surrendering themselves before the will of Allah, shall be blessed with a superb reward.

-The Prophet Muhammad (SAW), as reported by Anas bin Malik

A time will come when the sky is torn apart; when the stars scatter, and the ocean drains away; and when the graves are tossed about, and laid open. At that time every man will be told what he has done, and what he has failed to do; and every woman will be told what she has done, and what she has failed to do.

-Qur'an, Al-Infitar, Surah 82:1-5

Don't worry yet...it's still too soon to worry. However if you are like me (glass half empty) then I understand how you feel. Hopefully you will hear something soon. :star:

I've decided one thing about all this visa junk... too much "checking checking checking" is very difficult emotionally and I think ignorance in this situation is bliss. Yes, I'm worried and Mohammed is off the scale right now with panic. I also had to remind myself, this is CAIRO (thanks for the gentle reminder, Amy) and they do things in their own sweet time. Just being told after all the excitement that nothing is final yet AGAIN really did me in. I know this wonderful gal at DOS is trying very hard to help me and I'm actually kind of startled somebody is actually caring after all the cold silence, but she has no idea the roller coaster I'm on now.

It got me to thinking about my own job. I work for a huge health insurance company. Many of you probably have our plan where you work. The call center people, when they are hired, go through 6 to 8 weeks of extensive training on how to appropriately handle callers and the various situations they may encounter. I would assume the "visa specialists" would have to undergo something similar, but I think one point they miss in their training, or possibly one aspect that is taken too lightly, is that these visas are not business related or education related or for pleasure. These involve HEAVY EMOTIONAL BAGGAGE because they are for people who are either married and separated by great distances and TONS of red tape, or people waiting to marry. Too many times all of us here have called DOS and gotten someone who was either very snotty, received misinformation, or told things without much explanation that has caused a lot anxiety, or received conflicting information. I'm willing to bet most of these people have never been through something like this before and have no idea how painful it is. I SURE WISH THEY DID. If anyone from the government actually does peruse this website, as I've heard they do, I hope they read this and take into consideration that their "specialists" needed to be trained to be more aware of how emotionally difficult this is for their callers. Especially those beneficiaries who are calling from other countries/cultures who may not understand the intricacies of the English language. I know Moh has talked to 2 people at DOS who have really left him feeling horrible. Of course some of it may have been because of his own misunderstanding, but a good call center employee never leaves their caller feeling this way. Its a huge black eye for whatever entity is providing the alleged "service". Ok, off my soap box...

I went to bed last night so fed up with everything. Poor Mohammed. He tried to call me all night and I never heard the phone. You don't know how rare that is for me. I'm usually flying to answer the dumb thing before I'm even awake most of the time. I had 32 missed calls on my cell phone and finally heard the phone about 6 am. Poor man was all broken up thinking I had cut bait and said to hell with everything. He even called my parents. At least they had a nice chat. My mother told him I was on overload and probably was just sleeping too hard. Mom's always know.

ETA: I have also talked with some wonderful, knowledgable and caring people at DOS.

I'm so sorry to hear how stressed you are, and I understand 100%. When our petition was sent back to the USCIS and I would call to check on the status I got a variety of answers. Its still in Casa, its in transit, California has it, the NVC has it....it was horrible! I can't tell you the stress these people give us, just merely because they don't want to put much effort into it. Just tell them something and get them off the phone is the attitude.

Jean, I am sure this is the longest weekend yet. Please try your best to put it out of your mind at the times that nothing can be accomplished. i.e. weekends and weeknights. This stress is so unhealthy and you are going to need all of your strength on the day he finally steps foot in the US. Hugs to ya.
