Hi,

You need to wait for P4 letter (Interview Letter) before you can book an appointment for Medical. You will receive P4 letter from NVC once they have transferred your case to London Embassy.

I know this does not answer your question but I am in the same position. My file is in transit from NVC to London. I called the medical place and they reckon there is a 2 week wait for a medical. So I will call them tomorrow and book one for 2 weeks time if there is a slot available. My only concern is if it takes a while for them in London to get the file and do whatever it is they do with it and they get my medical too early and it gets shoved away somewhere.

I dont want to do it too early in case they are not ready for it.

Anyone who knows different or better please fell free to comment.

Aoun, not sure that applies in London but you may be correct. As far as I know in London all you need is case number and police report, nothing else. You do not get an appt in London until they receive your medical not the other way round.

A normal London Timeline from all the cases I've followed recently goes something like this:

NVC receives the case and gets you a case number

within a few days (call it a week) they send the file to London

It usually takes about 1 week for the file to arrive in London and get logged in. More cases than not it's right at one week exactly

Once logged in London mails your packet 3 instructions and you generally have them in less than a week (depending on your location in the UK and the mail service obviously this is an uncontrollable variable)

Medical appointments run about 2 weeks out from the time you call. You can call at any point that you have your LND case number. This is all they need to schedule it. Of course you need a copy of your police certificate and a passport photo before you go to the actual medical appointment.

For more information about the medical, here's the pdf as linked from the London Embassy website. It includes all the contact information and even a copy of the questionnaire you must fill out.

I booked my medical (and my childrens) this morning, with the Case number my fiance obtained by calling NVC yesterday. As of this morning, the first available appts were 7 Aug, so tomorrow it will be a later date than this. I already have my Police Certificate, if you don't have yours you can pay extra to get it in two weeks or less.

The link above contains all the info you need.

Thank u so much for the info ,does this mean I needed two copies of my police certificate? As I thought I had to take one to the interview also?

I was under the assumption that they just need to see it and may make a copy for their files. You do need the extra passport photo for certain though as it goes with your results to the embassy.

My fiancee has her medical a week from today, and I'll actually be over there for that portion, so I'll try to get back in here and post if that's true or not afterwards. Unless, of course, someone else answers this with certainty before then

They only want to look at your police certificate and they may photocopy it, but you will leave with the original in hand.

Two passport photos go to the interview. They must be US size. The third passport photo that gets mentioned is actually for the medical exam. The clinic is happy to take a smaller UK size if you have a spare or will accept a US size equally as well.

I was told on the phone when booking my appointments this morning to bring 'a copy of the Police Report'. I guess if you want, bring the original and a copy for them to keep if you want to be completely sure. I was told the photos can be either UK or US size, it doesn't matter to them.

They do need to see the original. I took a copy with me also and gave them that to keep.

Spouse visa people also go to the same medical. Their original police certificate gets mailed off to NVC way before a medical is scheduled and then goes straight to the embassy. If they photocopy the police certificate before mailing off, Knightsbridge will be fine with a photocopy to view at the exam.

I am K1 and scheduled my appt today, I asked for and got 7 Aug, only 1 slot left though..

I was told to bring passport, passport photo, (US or UK does not matter). Police cert, I asked original or copy, do not mind as long as it is readable and in date.

I may well take the original to be on the safe side but they said a copy would do.

if you have any in date jabs a record of them also, Mine are all out of date so they said we can them here on the day if you wish, so I will.

just call them and ask. 020 7486 7822.

My file is in transit from NVC to London so I think I will be fine timewise.

Knightsbridge will charge you around 35 pounds per vaccination you need. You have time to go to your GP and have a nurse there do them for free!

The K1 applicant does not have to have their vaccinations done at the medical, but it's much easier to complete them at this stage rather than during AOS (since it'll cost more).

Your vaccinations may not all be out of date. If you had 2 MMR jabs as a child, then they're still good and you won't need boosters. You're likely to be out of date for your tetanus. You might want to go visit your GP with the list of jabs, and have them do anything you're missing. They'll likely do them for free, where as a jab at the medical costs £35+.
