Hotel receipts

Gift receipts

You are going through possibly the most difficult US embassy to get a visa, you'll be wanting to "front load", ie send evidence of a bonafide relationship now, The lease is good, but photos together, boarding passes, emails from when you were not living together etc are good too.

Bye: Penguin

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

Yeah, sorry, gonna need a lot more than that.

Hopefully Debbie will come by and give you lots of great advice on front loading.

You'll need to provide a lot of evidence, not just 1 piece of paper.

Nikky, You will need more than one document. regardless of the visa, lots of documents are needed as to front-loading to give them enough information. E.g: chat log, phone records, emails, travelling tickets, and any other documents to prove to them that you guys are still have an on-going relationship. Trust people will give you alot of advice on this site and you will certainly be fine. Good luck.

Nikky, You will need more than one document. please can you specify what kind of visa are you trying to process so that people can give you specific documents related to the type of visa you want to put in. But regardless of the visa, lots of documents are needed as to front-loading to give them enough information.

This is the IR-1/CR-1 Visa forum and it says the same in her profile.

Hello VJ Members,

Well to be blunt unless you want to get denied at embassy. Lagos you must front-load and that means put your evidence upfront so the CO can make a decision of your relations. All a apartment lease shows is you are roommates. It sure doesn't show a relationship.

Here is a list of some things you may consider. But two things are the highest regard in Lagos. facetime and pictures with friends and family and phone logs.

You can not depend on "I will show evidence at interview" because you may not get that chance because frankly the CO has already seen your file and probably already made a decision.

I highly suggest a Relationship timeline so you can highlight your visits, key milestones. Where are all your visa stamps in your passport to show visits.

Please please do not send that petition off like it is. USCIS may not even approve it with that little of evidence. Here is a list of items you should think (chats, IM's, emails, skype logs, phone records, letters, gifts, and affidavits from family and friends are the top items to consider).

I will PM you the relationship timeline example and example of an affidavit. Approval of family and their knowledge is very important to CO's in Nigeria.

Bonfide Relationship Checklist

1. Evidence of Communication Before and After Marriage

  • Phone bills showing who called whom
  • Letters
  • Greeting cards
  • Chat logs
  • Emails / PM’s
  • Delivery receipts (of gifts you send each other)

2. Evidence of Visits / Vacations / Meeting in Person

  • Boarding passes
  • Passport stamps
  • Hotel receipts with both your names
  • Vacation / honeymoon photos
  • Receipts or bank statements showing remote ATM withdrawals (to show you were pulling money from that location at such time)

3. Evidence of Co-habitation During Marriage

  • Birth certificates of any children born to you together
  • Mortgage loan contract or lease contract with both partners’ names in it
  • Utility bills with both partners’ names
  • Receipts with both partners’ names in shipping/billing address
  • Pictures of you two living together

4. Evidence of Joint Ownership of Assets and Shared Financial Responsibility

  • Joint bank account statements
  • Proof of joint credit card use
  • Money transfer receipts
  • Power of Attorney
  • Wills (never used this)
  • Utility bills
  • Life insurance policy showing spouse as beneficiary
  • Health insurance
  • Car insurance

5. Photographic Evidence

  • Photos of you two together
  • Photos of you two with family (such as wedding, parties, kids’ graduation, etc.)
  • Photos of you two in various locations and times

6. Evidence from Others in Support of Bona Fide Marriage

  • Sworn affidavits of friends and/or family
  • Letters/cards from friends and/or family

We have boarding passes, Local flight tickets, Her visa to Nigeria to visit my parents(Pictures of us together in Nigeria all over the states), Money transfer receipts, Letters, Chat logs from skype and yahoo. We are going to get affidavits from both families. I tried to add her to my bank in Turkey but they didn't allow that. Maybe i will add her to my bank accounts in Nigeria. Thank you so much Dwheels for your detailed reply.

You are very welcome. My pleasure. One thing on your list i would leave out and maybe just have for interview is money transfer. Soem countries its fine but lagos if its the woman sending (Petitioner) may look like she is being scammed and if ite the beneficiary may look like you are buying a Visa.. A sham but better to leave out it just adds to more questions of how and why and how much.

Adding to bank accounts isn't really necessary because they know we don't live together and they know how hard it is to have joint accounts.. Stick with the pics, affidavits. It isn't required but if its easy why not.

You list of things is great and a vast array of visiting that's cool. Bravo for you two. You will be fine.

Should i get the affidavits notarized? What else can I do? Thanks

Because you have such vast travel and such. You should really do a relationship timeline that will be awesome. For your wife to go to Nigeria alone to meet the family WOW that's love there tell your story dear.

Dwheels thanks so much for your replies. Yes we traveled alot even to other states in Turkey. She was with me in Nigeria for 4-5 months and we had a wonderful, awesome time together. I can't do without her. How can I start a relationship timeline. Our marriage is 7months and 3days today :) I'm so happy. She left me in Turkey and returned to the states last month so she can file for us. I can't wait for her to give me a beautiful daughter that looks exactly like her.
