Buying tickets to Spain with expired GC

Hey yall

I have a quick question for y'all. I filed for my Removal of condition back in April and I'm still waiting for an answer from USCIS, which I know will take a while. my wife and I are going to Spain in Sept so I'm about to buy the tickets tonight, but They are asking me for passport number and then for my Greencard info. Now the thing is that it is asking me for Expiration date on my GC, but my green card already expired back in June. I'm planning on going to Spain with my greencard and NOA1 which extends my greencard for one more year. So what should I do? Should I put the actual date shown on my greencard expiring on June 2013 or should I use the extension letter which gives me one more year moving the date to June 2014. THanks

I've heard you can have an infopass in your local office with your Noa1, and they stamp your passport (i-551) and allows you to travel while you wait for your 10 yr greencard.

You won't be able to give that information in an online capacity because most likely the system won't accept it. You'll have to give that information when you check in. The airline is only required to collect that information before you fly (they often do it at ticket purchase because it is easier for them). If they won't let you give it at a later date online, call the airline and get a real person to run the transaction.

And to the above, there is no reason to waste the time to get a I-551 stamp, and many places will turn you away because the extension letter is all you need.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

not long ago a vj member went to the DMV to get a new dl and the staff member didn't accept his ext letter. He needed the i551. Somebodu suggest to get it anyways cause he might need to travel. That's why I sugested it. Edited by Andrea&Henry

Yeah, it's a decent suggestion, and in rare cases it is an option in the case of a crazy DMV employee or something, but the extension letter is what you need. There is a lot of unsubstantiated fear about the extension letter, many posts a month with "OMG! Can I travel on the letter!?!?!" And the extension letter plus expired GC is the exact thing that people need. There is no need to get stressed out about it, like so many people do. The extension letter and old GC is exactly right for travel.

wow! "A decent suggestion" ? you sure know how to make compliments!! I don't see why to be afraid of traveling with it. But I hope he can get his 10yr gc before his trip! Good luck
