When we received our NO A2 it stated it was valid from March until July 26,2013. Will it automatically be renewed? The embassy in Cairo will be open tomorrow (Monday) but did advise that they could shut down due to unexpected protests or unrest. My fiance has yet to hear of packet 4 therefore has not had an interview. I have emailed the embassy but have no response. It is very difficult to get a hold of someone by phone there. Any one know what to do? Anyone in the same boat?

I think I can help you. This worked for me but there are No Guarantees.

Don't assume your Petition will be "automatically" be extended. Continue your e-mails and calls asking for an extention and a explaination of the delay. They will allow 4 months for each extention if they so approve of it and usually, they do. The extention requires: You are still Free to Marry and will Marry within 90 days of her/his entry into the US. Write and explain a on-going relationship.

Aside from the calls and e-mails: Write a Certified Letter with a signature required upon delivery and confirmation.

If you have the Funds available: PAY THE VISA FEE IMMEDIATELY. I SAID IMMEDIATELY! That will lock-in your Case/Petition for 1 Year from the date of the Fee paid.

This is just my experience. See my time-line for proof. It is all the same petition. Again, be safe, not sorry. What if you told them you wish to pay the Visa Fee now or already did ? You will be OK I believe so.

The US embassy in Cairo is known to be slow in scheduling interviews. No need to worry about extending the NOA2, the embassy will extend it automatically for you. Our NOA2 was supposed to expire on January 4th, 2013 and my fiance had his interview on January 10th, 2013. We didn't need to do anything, the extension was automatic.
