Would there be a problem if my Fiance does not have a tax return at hand? Just Pay Slips, Employer letter, W-2's, Letter from bank vs bank statements. My brother is my co-sponsor and his wife are joined in taxes. They like anyone else are very private and don't like to share personal information like this to just anyone. So I'm wondering if the Tax Return Transcripts are less detailed than the actual Tax Return; is it just a brief description of numbers? I would like to know what is really required and not optional. I would hate for my Fiance to show up without the REQUIRED. Are the Tax Returns a big deal or the other things I mentioned would be suffice. Embassy in London... I know every country can be more or less strict. Would appreciate your help!

P3 instructions require previous tax year tax return or transcript. For AOS you will need previous 3 tax years.

Not following the P3 instructions could present challenges. regardless what you do now, you will certainly need the returns for AOS.

The transcript is just the taxpayer info and the numbers, no worksheets.

instead of income, you can show assets. You would need roughly 100k in assets to avoid showing income.

Tax transcripts have all the same info as a tax return without the explanations and fancy formatting and boxes. So no, they aren't more private. You would still know all their business.

London will approve an I-134 without a tax return with other proofs. What you stated will be enough. What other consulates require may be different. Your concern should be London.

For the I-864 and adjustment of status, there is no getting around submitting the latest tax return and report income off the last three. Your joint sponsor could seal their I-864 and documents in an envelope for you to include with your application. That way you wouldn't see it. Make sure they understand all they have submit including proof they are a US citizen or permanent resident.

Thanks so much! :) So the on the last sentence...? Do you mean my brother has to prove he is a U.S.Citizen by making a copy of his passport or the Passport number on the form if they ask for this is enough... ?

I appreciate your help.

Yes, he must show he is a USC for the I-864 when you file for adjustment of status. A photocopy of his US birth certificate or biographical page from his US passport will do it. The rules for the I-864 are much more specific. It isn't needed for the I -134 for London.
