I am originally from Canada and met my fiance on vacation. After two years of a long distance relationship, I was accepted in a university in Oklahoma. Just recently my fiance proposed and we are planning on getting married on Oct. 20th of next year. We are really confused about the whole process and don't know what to file since I am currently a student and will be for the next two years. Another thing is that I am carrying a student visa so do I not need the K-1 visa? And also after we file do I have to be out of the country till the papers get approved or can I still attend university? Would it be appropriate to make an appointment to visit the Immigration office in Oklahoma City or are they no help with information? If anyone has any info on these issues, please reply back.

Thanks,

Aarti and William

Do you still need a K-1 visa? Not as you are already in the US legally and going to school. You can apply to adjust status through marriage to your USC fiance.
