In Person Meeting requirement

Hello All,

My i-129F petition for my Fiancee is pending. I am April 2013 Filer. As proof of in-person meeting in last two years, I send couple of photographs (with date and place of meeting on back of photo) and airline ticket to travel to her place. Is it sufficient or will I be getting RFE for further proof? I just want to be pro active and get other proofs if need be. Please share your experience. Thanking you in advance.

Nothing you can do now. If they determine it's not enough, and they feel like giving you the chance to supply more evidence, they will RFE you.

Cannot be proactive now.. that ship has sailed

The entry/exist stamp on my passport was not clear when I tried photocopying it. So I did not send it. I just send airline ticket and few photographs as proof of In Person Meeting.

I had that issue but then I scanned it under the "photo" setting and it was crystal clear.

You'll likely get an RFE but that's not the end of the world. Just prepare for it now and send it out once you get the paper. smile.png They'll put your case on pause and as soon as they get the documents they need they'll finish processing it. You don't go to the bottom of the stack.

When I sent mine I sent the following as evidence of the relationship:

  1. Scanned copies of my passport -- all pages... even the un-stamped ones.
  2. Photocopy of my return boarding pass.
  3. Photos of us together:
    • 2 were time stamped (taken from my webcam on my pc), which corresponded with passport stamps
    • 2 were with his family
    • 1 was at a restaurant we ate at every day and accompanied by the receipt for that restaurant, which had a date and address, that corresponded with the passport stamps.
    • 1 of which was me standing in front of his city's sign at the train station.

Good luck. smile.png

Thank you for the reply. I will scan it under photo setting this time, If I get RFE.

I visited her and meet her once again while my petition was pending. Can I send pictures, airline ticket, copy of passport with entry exit stamp of my visit while my petition was pending If I get a RFE or will it create further confusion?

I heard mixed reviews on this one...

You can wait for an RFE or you can send it in (just make sure you keep a copy of what you send in, in case you get an RFE after).

What I heard people do is send it into the USCIS office that their petition is at and they put their receipt number at the top of every single page. Some people had success with it, some people didn't.

If your case has been transferred recently and you didn't yet get the letter in the snail mail telling you where it's now at (because the emails are not always right) I would wait until you have that so you don't send it to the wrong place. :)

Good luck. :)

No...the evidence must be from within the 2 years prior to filing the application

It is enough for USCIS California because I was a January filer for California and all we sent were some photos and copies of plane tickets and we were approved no problem. :-)

Just to let to know, scanning photos of passport are not necessary for California. If you just send 2 or 3 photos of the two of you together and a plane ticket to your fiance's destination then that will be sufficient for California because that is all we sent and had an approval in 4 months.

This user is completely correct -- I misunderstood your question.

One of the base requirements is that you met within 2 years prior to filing the petition. You can however mail in a copy of your passport with the stamps supporting when you met your fiance(e), however it will only be counted as evidence if the stamps are within 2 years of filing the petition.

The visit while the petition is pending can be used as evidence of the ongoing relationship if you're approved, which will be required at the interview. So keep that info. smile.png

Well, there it is. Though it is not written in the VJ Guildlines.... A New Organizer.

Anyone can get a Passport Stamped in a particular Country but that does prove you went to see her./ Writing on the back of a picture a date you guessed. Not Solid Proof of the 2 year Requirement.

i sent a scanned entry stamps (departure and arrival), itinerary receipts that i got, boarding passes even though they are already fading, bag tags, military passes to their base, photos with dates on the back. pictures that can prove your visit. ;) like everyone else said just wait for your notice in case they are gonna ask you for additional requirements.

I wasn't advising him, since he has already sent in his petition and the said evidence. I was simply reassuring him not to worry about what he did send in because I sent the same in and I was approved without a problem, so the California centre aren't super strict on following things word for word. The best proof is a boarding ticket that was issued to you at your fiancé's local airport, proving without a doubt you were in their location at the stated date. The boarding pass would be considered good solid proof if the date is within the 2 years, along with photos to accompany it. Of course more high risk countries may need more proofs etc. but what he did include, assuming he means boarding tickets, will do the job.
