Good luck!

I don't think the interviewer will judge you based on a tattoo or piercing, but I would recommend that you do your best to dress appropriately. :)

I would recommend that you wear clean clothes, that don't have stains, wrinkles holes or tears in them.

For a woman I would recommend clothes such as:

  • Nice jeans, top & blazer
  • Knee length (or below) skirt & dressy top.
  • Dress that goes to your knees or below.
  • Tops should not show too much cleavage, but don't worry if some is peeking through. :)
  • Nice shoes (no sneakers), such as heels, ballet flats, dress sandals, etc.
  • Clean makeup -- look natural and fresh! Take it easy on the eye makeup and lip color, pick natural colors and don't go too heavy!

For a man I would recommend clothes such as:

  • Slacks or khakis (really nice jeans would be ok with a blazer)
  • Button down shirt
  • Nice shoes (no sneakers) such as dress shoes, loafers, nice boots (not boots that resemble sneakers).

Remember this is an interview, you don't want to dress too casual (t-shirt & jeans doesn't look good) nor too dressy (ball gown would be a little over the top). Make sure your clothes are respectable (short skirts, really low cut tops would be inappropriate).

The style you're looking for is "dress casual" or "start up work casual".

I'm sure how you dress won't cause an outright denial, but it's good when you look well put together and respectable.

Don't forget to make sure you bring all the evidence you need with you and pour through postings people made regarding your consulate/embassy so you know what to expect. :)

Good Luck!
