Comparing Processing Times - How Does This Affect My Application?

Hey, My name is Robert. I am from Scotland. This is my first time posting.

Myself and my fiancé submitted our K-1 visa application on 2nd April and it was received / filed on the 15th April. At the time, the waiting time for the California Service Centre was roughly 200 days. By my estimate that would have us receiving our first reply/answer roughly at the start of November. Since then I have seen that the waiting times have been going down and down since then. Currently, for people submitting their application the waiting time is 132 days, which is great news. Again by my estimates that puts their rough time for receiving their first reply/answer from the California Service Centre at the start of November. My question is, is this how it will work out for both submissions and the first reply or will the fact that waiting times have went down since we submitted ours at the start of April mean that we will have a lesser waiting time than what it was projected to be at the time (6.5 months/November).

I know this may seem like an obvious question, but I just cant make up my own mind as to what this means for our application timescale and thought someone could help give me a better understanding of how this affects us.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you for your time.

Robert

It depends a lot on various factors and there is no definite timescale on when the petition will be processed. What you find on the USCIS websites are estimates and averages. Having problems with your petition submission or leaving things out etc. will obviously slow things down. I submitted mine to the California center the last week in January and we received an approval letter early May, which was 4 months. It was projected to be 7 months back when we submitted it but we got the approval in almost half the time. I'd say that you can expect word back in about 4 months from the date you submitted the petition.
