Help please? reciept recieved

Me and my husband recently applied for a removal of conditions.

We sent our package about 1.5w ago, and just one week after they recieved the package, we got the reciept letter.

However, we filed late, and we added a letter with our circusmatances on why we filed late (about 3 weeks late). (BTW, I don't need to hear how stupid we were for being late, we know it looks very bad, and we had our reasons. Best we could do was try, and we will re-start the whole process if we have to.)

1. Does the reciept mean we will be considered despite being late, or does everyone recieve the reciept no matter what?

2. If the latter applies - Where can I check if my residence status has been terminated? Can I call USCIS directly?

Everyone gets a receipt, its done when they take the payment and send the files on. Only after that does someone actually look at your papers.

Infopass might be more likely to give you information about your status, but you can try phoning them for information.

for a roc receipt letter,

there is wording in it extending your permanent resident status for a year.

do you have that wording in your letter, or no ?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Yes.

The letter, which I assume is a generic letter that they send to everyone, states that my work and travel is extend for one year.

But it also says that if my residency has been terminated, that does not apply.

Your residency has not been terminated.

But since you are having some reaction to that , please call into USCIS, get an ISO, and inquire about what's what. Don't waste time with a CSR, get an ISO asap.

Agreed. I would call the number as well. Your letter's wording is the standard wording used on NOA1s: "status is extended for a year, travel and work allowed, but it does not apply if your status has been terminated". Go figure. Hopefully they will accept your reasons for late filing since it was just a couple of weeks, and you won't have lost status and will be allowed to proceed with ROC.

Thanks for you help everyone!

We called today, but we were told to get spesific updates on our case, we needed to get an infopass appointment. We got one, but sadly it's 2 weeks from now.

Our case is not updates online yet, but when if it, I am hoping the wording there might help us slightly.

Does anyone know if it is possible to drop by the local USCIS office and hope to get an appointment that day, or will we have to wait for our Infopass appointment?

Darnell: I am not sure what CSR and ISO means?

Lunaa,

Smile smile.png . I'm 100% sure that everything is going to be just fine in your case. I totally understand how much pressure/scared you are, but, when you will get appointment for the bio metrics in one or two weeks, you will know that the application has been accepted. Just wait for the that Bio letter. The Bio letter will have your tracking number too. When you will look online, you can be sure they have accepted your application.

I agree with Christi, just couple of weeks is fine. We are human being and we forget sometimes; and immigration is not that evil to punish you for couple of weeks. So, just sit tight.

If you are planning to travel during this application process, I would suggest you to get info pass and get i-551 stamp to avoid any unnecessary hassle in travel.

Good Luck!!

I was a week and afew days late and they accepted it.

I sent my stuff on time but I included a money order with the wrong amount. So they rejected it. I got the packet, got the money right this time around, included a letter that I made an honest mistake.

I got the receipt, just like you did and they accepted it.

Personally, I would not draw attention to myself by contacting them about this - that's just me. I would wait for someone to figure out it was late then do something. They process millions of these, I doubt 3 weeks is anything to make a huge fuss over.

Life happens and people forget and make mistakes smile.png

All the best
