I have had a look at the Visa Journey Timelines etc. I was wondering if anyone knows how long it takes to get your consulate case number after the NOA2? It has to go to NVC then onto the designated beneficiary's consulate...mine is Sydney. On the timeline guide it says approximately 24 days from NOA2 to Consulate processing (not the interview date) - i am not sure if that is the number assigned or just when it may touch down there though and processing time is in addition.

Anyway, the reason I ask is because I have my medical booked for the 5th Sept in Brisbane (we got our NOA2 dated 22 July). I leave on the 6th Sept to the US for 10 weeks. The reason i am booking my medical, is we plan on having all the paperwork sorted before (or worst case - while I am away) and I want to be able to have the consulate interview lined up for as soon as I get home.

45 days from NOA2 notification to getting my consulate number should be plenty of time shouldn't it? If it isn't i lose my $100 deposit for the doctors booking (there was a slight misunderstanding with the doctors - they asked for my alien number which i have, but they needed my SYD consulate number - hence jumping the gun and organising the booking too early).

It is taking 3 to 4 weeks for TSC to release an approved file. Once released, then it takes another 7 to 8 days shipping before file gets into NVC system. Once in NVC system you can get case number which will be needed at medical. Please note, some cases happen faster than others.

Thanks so much batallion9! That is really helpful to know. It means i haven't totally wasted my time or money accidentally jumping the gun through a misunderstanding regarding my medical! We got our NOA2 on July 22 so even if it takes 6 weeks I should still get the NVC number in time!

I have already given her the replica I-129F packet when we were last together. I will now send her

I-134

Updated Intent to marry

Signed letter from employer, 3-4 pay stubs

Copy of NOA2

More proof of ongoing relationship

One big question she has is the medical, will this be covered by her Insurance in Berlin? Am I missing anything from the list above that I need to gather and send to her?

So happy to have woken up to this approval this morning. smile.png

First of congrats to your noa2!! As far as it comes to the medical: it is NOT covered by insurance. I have mine on Friday in Munich and its around 150 euros which is paid cash at the medical. And as far as I read its the same at all other German doctors that are allowed to do the medical.

And I could be wrong but I thought you had to also submit a last years tax return. But I'm not a 100% sure about that. I'm sure somebody will jump in and know for sure
