Hello, i am hopefully nearing the end of this process. I am divorced, and a bit confused if i need to show my marriage certificate as well as my divorce certificate? Anyone know? Also, do you send all the documents off with the DS-157K paperwork, as it says you must attach the documents, but i thought you just took them to the interview? I have tried calling the embassy, but constantly get the message that they are too busy and to call back again. Can you book your medical before sending off the Applicant's readiness form and your final paperwork? I will have all the documents needed by the time the embassy get the medical results. Thanks to anyone who can help with these questions. The frustration of all this is unbareable!

Just official divorce documents is all I included in my packet and my now wife was approved with no RFE etc. I suggest you read the guides for K1 at the top of the page and follow as they are clear as to the steps required. I know for Philippines my wife went to her medical with just her NOA2 approval and receipt for paying the Visa fee through a bank that US Embassy in Manila uses. Each country is different I believe when you get past NOA2 approval. I hope this helps.

I couldn't work that out either! I take it you have your NOA2? I gave up my copy of the marriage certificate to the solicitor when I divorced so I have ordered one online for £9.25 I think it was. That way I am covered. Just waiting for it to come through the snail mail!

Might be helpful to fill in your timeline then people know where you are in the process

Hi,

First of all you do not send any documents (birth cert, police cert, divorce decree etc.) to the embassy with your packet 3 forms, you bring them and a photocopy with you to the interview. Ignore what'as on the DS-157K form, follow instructions embassy gave you.

You should have booked your medical as soon as you got you LND number or packet 3 letter at the latest so book it ASAP. Readiness form should be sent when all forms needed were posted and medical attended or booked at least but in this case make sure you state on the cover letter when is your medical due.

US London Embassy website advisies here http://london.usembassy.gov/application_documents.html what documents are needed and you need both marriage and divorce certs indeed.

"Marriage Certificates: Married applicants must obtain an original marriage certificate, or a certified copy, bearing the appropriate seal or stamp of the issuing authority. A certificate is required for all marriages, including those that were dissolved. "

Good luck!

Hello, i am hopefully nearing the end of this process. I am divorced, and a bit confused if i need to show my marriage certificate as well as my divorce certificate? Anyone know?

The marriage certificate was not asked for at my fiance's London Interview and the website said something similar at that time about marriage and divorce certificates.

The form is DS-156K. Do not mail any documents to London. Only the forms. They will "attach" your documents when you present them at the interview.

Can you book your medical before sending off the Applicant's readiness form and your final paperwork? I will have all the documents needed by the time the embassy get the medical results. Thanks to anyone who can help with these questions. The frustration of all this is unbareable!

There a three things to do for London in order to be assigned an interview.

1. Mail in four DS-xxx forms

2. Gather documents needed and schedule a medical exam. Notify London that is done by mailing the DS-2001 readiness for interview form and cover letter telling your medical date and other things asked for.

3. Have the medical exam. Results must arrive at the embassy.

#2 and 3 above are interchangeable depending on which got done first. Some people do #3 first. I think it's

best to make #1 be the first thing you do since that's what London says in their instructions http://london.usembassy.gov/iv_15.html

If you haven't read that entire page and all the links in the text, plus all the links in the sidebars, then you may miss something.

Could you do #1 and #2 at the same time, in the same mail-out? i.e. Package 3 arrives on the doormat and you've got an LDN and you've pre-emptively gathered all the supporting, required, documentation - you phone Knightsbridge and book a medical, then you mail on the same day the 4 forms, ds-2001 and the cover letter with the medical date you just booked?

Sorry if that's an obvious question :/
