Hello all,

I just sent in our I-130 to the Chicago Lockbox. I'm a US Citizen my wife is Canadian and we are currently living in Tororto. We've been married since 2004. We are very familar with the immigration process since we went through it once already in 2004.

We prefer just to get things out of the way especially with the summer months coming up we'll be on holidays for an extended period. Can my wife go for her medical exam at any time or do we have to wait and get notified by NVS? Is there a timeframe when the medical exam is good for?

She should wait to get her medical exam until your I-130 is approved and you have a case complete at the NVC. Also, you need the NVC letter and case number to book the appointment. Even if she were to get it done now, the results could expire before she got her visa and could travel to the US.

All of the panel physicians in Canada require an interview letter to get a medical. The results are good for 6 months and for Canada, you have 6 months from the MEDICAL to immigrate, not 6 months from the visa approval.
