Hello VJ friends,

We received our I-864 package 1 month ago and everything is ready. For some reason my husband wants to wait to receive DS-230 package and send them together.

I ve told him many times, if we do not send I-864, they will not send DS-230package because every in step is in order.

Could you pls advise me which one is correct?Can NVC send DS-230package before receiving I-864 package? If you help, i will be very happy. Thanks a lot, good luck..

04/18/2006 Sent I-130 to Nebraska Service Center

04/20/2006 NSC received it

05/04/2006 Our check has been cashed

05/06/2006 Received NOA1

08/21/2006 I-130 APPROVED (APPROVED IN 108 DAYS)

I-129F

05/11/2006 Sent I-129F to Chicago USCIS

05/13/2006 USCIS received it.

05/19/2006 Received NOA1

07/03/2006 Received IMBRA RFE

08/03/2006 RECEIVED NOA2 (APPROVED IN 76 DAYS)

08/16/2006 NVC forwarded case to embassy

11/15/2006 Interview/Approved/ Visa granted

Yes, NVC can send DS 230 packet even if you have not mailed them the I-864 packet. Taking care of AOS Fee Bill prompts NVC to generate I-864 while taking care of the IV Fee Bill prompts NVC to generate DS 230 packet. These two tracks are independent of each other and NVC completes the case once they review both and find the paperwork complete.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

What simple_male said is absolutely right. You don't have to wait for the DS-230 to send the I-864. In my opinion you should send it right away because the I-864 contains more documents that need to be checked than the DS-230.

I think it makes no sense at all to wait! What if they want something more after you send it in or there is a problem with any of your documents? Then you will have delayed a month or more in getting your interview. There is no reason to wait.

I130 at NVC

12/14/06 - case number assigned

12/25/06 - DS3032 & AOS Fee Bill Mailed (phone system updated 12/27)

12/27/06 - emailed choice of agent; 12/29/06 - received email from NVC confirming choice of agent!

01/01/07 - NVC generated IV Fee Bill (postmarked 1/17 though!)

01/03/07 - returned AoS Fee Bill via Priority Mail (James' shortcut)

01/15/07 - NVC generated AOS package

01/22/07 - received IV Fee Bill - overnighted back to NVC same day

01/27/07 - recieved I864 package; 01/29/07 - overnighted I864 to NVC

01/29/07 - DS230 generated (phone system not updated, email response 2/5/07)

02/05/07 - mailed DS-230 to NVC via express mail

02/20/07 - CASE COMPLETE!!

04/18/07 - INTERVIEW!!!! - APPROVED!!!!

09/28/06 - NOA1

1/25/07 - approved ...NOA2 via snail mail - 1/29/07

03/16/07 - chose not to return packet 3 to Montreal
