I would like to apologize for 'URGENT' in topic title, I know how annoying that can be but this is really urgent and I am in panic.

This morning I got notice from USCIS that my GC (conditions removed) was mailed to me and I'll get within 30 days. The trick is that I am on my way to airport to visit my home country! I have expired GC + extension letter and I know it's okay to travel with these but I have no idea what to do now when my petition actually was approved and I have NEW plastic on its way! I don't think I'll have much trouble leaving the country (or will I?!). And what I am supposed to do when coming back? Should I ask somebody to mail the new plastic to me? I would avoid it by all costs, to be honest because if it gets lost, it would be horrible. Would I be okay just showing my old GC + extension letter? I've heard that all info of this kind is stored electronically and immigration officers would know that it's all good with my status.

I can't cancel the flight or do anything because I literally leave in hours... I am supposed to have WiFi on the bus so I am really counting on you, dear internet citizens!

My stepdaughter is in the same situation. Don't worry about it. Just show the expired card and the extension letter. If asked, simply tell them the truth that the card was mailed after you started your trip. If I remember correctly, I don't think it's legal to ship your green card overseas.
