K1 Visa sent to the Vancouver Embassy instead of Montreal Embassy

Hi there,

Our I-129F was approved last week and I called the NVC today to get our Case Number as well as to confirm receipt. They had received our case and she informed me that after it was processed at the NVC (which she said would take approximately 2-4 weeks) it would be sent to the Vancouver Embassy. The only problem here is that I live in Toronto so it would be FAR more convenient to have my case routed to the Montreal Embassy.

So with this said, I have two main questions:

  1. Does the process at the Vancouver office progress more quickly? Or is Montreal faster at processing K1 Visas?
  2. I've emailed the NVC Inquiry address asking them to change the Embassy for our case. I've been told however that if our case leaves for the Embassy before the NVC sees the request, than I have to petition the Embassy to get them to move my case. This sounds like it would add unnecessary time to the process. Does anyone have experience with this?

Thanks so much!

VAN office is faster than Montreal.

You will have to contact both consuls and request them to move the petition to the correct consul for your living area. Which would be Montreal.
