Well yesterday we called to find out where our I-130 application was at and guess what! NOTHING, they let us know that they havent even touched it yet...Im so heartbroken.

What! Seven months and they haven't even touched it? This is insane, they just don't understand the sense of urgency, do they?

How is it that some get approved within a month and some don't even get touched for seven months..I don't see any pattern in USCIS and it is such a unpredictable department of the cabinet.

In my case, I went to the website of my Senator (your husband can also request assistance from the Congressperson's office in the district where he votes). I downloaded a privacy release form, and faxed it to the office with a letter explaining our issue and a copy of our receipt notice for our I-130. Multiple calls should not be necessary, though a followup call might be advisable.

You and your husband will do whatever seems important enough for you to do. If you want to be together, you will take the steps that others have found efficacious. Your choice is between "doing/possibly waiting", and "not doing/definitely waiting". Sorry.

I'm a dual US/Hungarian citizen (both by birth; Hungarian citizenship verification TBA), and my husband is a dual British/Irish citizen (by treaty) from Northern Ireland. We are atheists.

All advice is given pursuant to the Disclaimer that you may read at the bottom of each forum page.

LATEST STEPS:

28 Jun 2013: POE Houston

08 Jul 2013: SSN received (at SSA office)

07 Aug 2013: Green Card received

27 Feb 2014: Whoa, life happened. Planning move "back home" together to Republic of Ireland by end of April.

29 Apr 2014: POE Dublin through Heathrow

15 May 2014: Received formal residency/work permission (GNIB card with Stamp 4, one year renewable) for the ROI

OMG 7 months passed and they even didnt touch it, unbelievable. It can happen with our case too, i freaked out.

I totally understand how you feel so lonely, i am growing my 1 year old baby alone by myself , my husband even couldnt see baby's first steps. Its really hurting to live separately especially at the beginning of family life. My husband does not have a time to contact USCIS either, he is working at the metal factory on very heavy job just only to be my sponsor coz we couldnt find a co-sponsor. (He is actually a chef)

You call the USCIS find out your local office, i am sure your case is already in local office, maybe your husband can find free time and visit his local office. Good luck.
