Police Cert. Photo Endorsement

Hello fellow VJers

i have just printed off the paperwork from Acro for my Police check and under the part about getting my photo endorsed it says i can get a manager to sign it on page 7 (i am working in retail atm) does anyone know if this means its got to be the store manager or can it be a duty manager or even a supervisor ( duty manager is below supervisor in my job). we just had a change of manager within the store i work so cant ask him to endorse it as hes not known me for at least 2 year.

I hope someone can help me with this.

In it has to be someone like your gp or a civil servant.. It's the same as if you were getting your passport picture signed

Actually the list of people does include "Manager" and iw as wondering the same thing..as I have a "Team Leader" and I wasnt sure if this counted as a manager..though she is a manager, but im not sure if thats her job title...hmm perhaps someone can clarify

I'm pretty sure it can be a Team Leader. My manager at British Gas signed mine, and he was only the manager of our team. As long as they're in a management capacity and are official-ish, you should be fine.

My thoughts are do they really follow up with the signer? I have never read anybody UK say they did. Say "manager" and don't qualify with "shift" or "duty" or "team leader". Or go get your shots and have your GP sign off your photos while there.

In my experience, it can be almost anyone. I had a friend do mine successfully, and he's a web developer. He's not in the slightest bit "official" by their standards. I used the same counter-signature for my passport photo with no issues.

I'm trying to remember another form he signed for me once... can't remember what it was... a work reference or something... and he put "web wizard" on it as occupation. These people just want someone to blame if it turns out to be fraud.

Exactly. My manager had to list his phone number and his name/job title, and no one ever called him, and no one checked up on it. I don't think they really care. A lot of GPs charge for the counter-signature though as it's outside of the NHS, mine charge £30 for it - though it's just weighing up time efficiency and hassle vs. money. Whatever you prefer.
