Hello;

My finance from Manila contacted me about doing a ds-160 form, & we started to do it together, but through some research, it's looking to me like

we need to do the ds-156, not the ds-160. I'm also concerned, because I've trying to use the step by step guide here on visa journey, & they don't mention either one. In the section of what to send your finance, they include the I-134 form, but not either the ds-156, or ds-160. First question is do I need the ds-156, instead of the ds-160 because it's a k1? Second is why doesn't the visa step by step example include either of these forms. Can I trust this as a finale guide to our process?

Thanks, for any input;

Rob & Jellie.

I filled out the DS-156 for my K1, but it might be different for different countries. Your fiancée should have received information from the embassy in Manila on which forms to fill out. THAT should be your final guide.

VJ does not include them because they are part of the papers the consul tells you they need.

Different consuls request different things for different countrys. DS-160 is filled out by some countrys but not all.

At this point generally you go on the consuls website and download the forms the consul requests and follow their directions and their checklists.

All the information for Manila is done online. This is listed in the guides in the Philippine forums.

Hello;

Thank you very much for all the replies. Now, I've talked to my finance, & she says she needs the ds-160 form so she can get the medical

exam. Does this sound correct; or did she mix something up.

Thanks,

Rob_D

DS-160 has nothing to do with the medical. It is an online non-immigrant visa consular application form.

Usually it's DS-156 and DS-156K for K1 visas. Also DS-230.

DS-160 for every other non-immigrant visa.

None of these forms should be required for medical, the most that they might ask for is your case number.

That is what I have seen in most cases. Some countries do have other requirements, so always check the instructions at your country's embassy site.
