Sorry for the newbie question... but how do I know if my case has been 'touched'? I will check my case status every couple of days, as I don't expect them to touch it for months yet. And I see where they received it and transferred it from Texas to the California Service Center.

Also, any idea why they transferred the case from TX to CA? The website told me that Texas services the state of Florida.

Thanks for any info! I'm really enjoying reading the info y'all share and your own personal stories!

Once you get your case number from USCIS you can register online and set up a portfolio to check the status of your case. There is a "last updated" date. Anytime this date changes you have been "touched". You can be touched without seeing a status change for your case. You can never get touches and still get approvals. Touches are very unpredictable.

TSC no longer handles fiance visas. There was a restructuring of USCIS. But you still need to send it to Texas and they will transfer your file pretty quickly.

8 April 2009 Biometric notice arrived by mail

24 April 2009 Biometrics scheduled

26 April 2009 Touched

...once again waiting

1 September 2009 (just over 5 months) Approved and card production ordered.
