How to keep track of your K-1 case status after NOA2

Hello everyone,

maybe I should've been able to find this elsewhere on the forum or on the internet using search engines, but I'm a little lost between all the info.

We received our NOA2 on April 29th and I know they'll have to send our files to the NVC and after that the consulate of my (the benificiary's) country.

However, I was wondering if there's an option to keep track of your case (status) after it leaves the USCIS.

Til now we were able to fill in our case # on the USCIS website, to see what our 'case status' was.

Is there any way to keep track of it online in the mean time until it reaches the NVC and consulate?

I know that the NVC - supposedly - will send a notice to the petitioner (and in our case our representative) with when they receive (from the USCIS) and send it (to the consulate) in the mail.

On this forum I keep reading about how uncommon it actually is that people do receive those notices and get mail with further instructions from the consulate later - considering the last step before the interview.

I'm the benificiary and even though I've been reading a lot about 'what to do next after NOA2' I'm a little lost on the internet for now.

Therefore, a few more questions that probably have been answered many times before, but I'd like to get some answers myself - just to be sure of everything.

- Am I the one who should receive mail from now on or will my fiancé (the USC) receive a notice first (from the NVC or the consulate)?

- The famous packet 3 - is this the packet in which they ask for the affidavit of support documents or something else (as well)?

- Once they received our packet 3 (after we sent the needed documents) will they schedule the interview - which will be packet 4 (containing the date and what-to-bring list)?

Thank you so much.

I may not have this absolutely correct, but from this point on, the petition is solely in her court now.

Any contact with her counrty embassy and interview process is now owned by Her / Him.

Your part is done. If You have the NVC case number, then Your Fiance will need to do all the inquirey now...I don't think they will even give the Petitioner any information from this point on.

As I understand the process now, once NVC sends it out, it seems from others here that they are finding out that the foreign embassy is reieving them generally in about a week or so.

Give Your Fiance the case number, and have her contact them.

You can track the petition only so far at this point.

Someone else here can give a better accurate explanation I am sure.

I am the benificiary - the Dutch citizen, but thank you for the clarification about how it's basically just me now that will receive any further information.

Thank you! Like I said; I've been going through so many posts and information on the internet and this forum that I got lost between all of it.

I knew that I've seen this before, I just really couldn't remember where to find it. oops8rh.gif

You can check with the NVC if you like. Here is the contact info:http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3177.html Their part take a couple of weeks and the will give you your NVC case number once it has been assigned.

Good Luck

The Petitioner (USC) will receive a letter from the NVC with a case number, your petition will be send to the Consulate in Amsterdam and they will send you a letter (packet 3) stating that they received your petition and tell you what to do and what to send back. After they receive your packet 3 they will send you packet 4 with the appointment for Medical and Interview, both in Amsterdam.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Between receiving the noa2 and your fiancee receiving the famous package 3 is around 2 weeks. The dutch consulate works fast. After you send in the package 3 you'll get the letter with the interview date in less then a week. In my case i had little more then 4 weeks between receiving the letter and my interview date. I have my interview may 13th. You have to get your medical before the interview but that's explained in the letter. One thing i noticed is that they ask for originals and a plain photo copy.

What you have to get for the package 3 is the following. 2x ds156, 1x ds156k and ds230 part 1 and a photocopy of the passport biographic date page. They ask you to get evidence etc ready. " package 4" is the letter with the interview date and how to make a appointment for the medical. It also tells you what to bring for the interview.
