Well VJers, I am happy and sad. I feel silly even feeling a little bit negative but such as life.

GOOD NEWS: We finally got our interview date today!

BAD NEWS: It's not until January 23, 2014!!

Apparently the embassy in Vancouver is really backlogged which is why our date is so far away. Obviously I am quite upset with this as our goal was to be together for Christmas and that isn't going to happen. I know that this will all end in a happy result, but it's hard to feel happy knowing we are still far from done.

On the upside, at least we know what we are facing, but it's still hard!

Happy to hear you got your interview but I'm sorry that you have to wait! Since you don't have to have a visa to visit the USA from Canada, can't you still spend the holiday together? I'm not sure how far apart you are. For some countries, a visa i an absolute necessity. I had to have a visa to even visit Brazil but I know when I go to Canada, I am able to enter the country with just a passport? Of course, sometimes cost can be part of teh issue. It cost me over $1000 for every flight to Brazil so with expenses from Christmas, the wedding, and then we have to do the AOS, my fiancee had asked if the visa were delayed could I come be with him for Christmas. Unfortunately, I wouldn't have been able to. Still hoping all goes through as planned. The good news is you'll be together for Valentines Day, right?? My fiancee's birthday is February 13. I was with him in Brazil for his birthday and Valentines Day last year. I'm excited that this year we'll be together again.

Hi. I am new to posting on this Forum. My Fiancee ( Colombiana) and I ( US citizen ) are living in Panama, and have been approved by USCIS. Our packet was mailed to Panama, and last week we went to US Embassy in Panama.

However we have one issue. We are now finished in Panama, as my Fiancee is graduating. It was not possible to complete the interview process before we leave Panama at the end of November. We wish to change our interview to Colombia ( where we plan on living until ( hopefully ) approved.

I e-mailed US Embassy in Bogota, and after several exchanges, they replied saying " yes, they can transfer. Do not do anuaryanything until we contact you " How long is an appropriate time to wait??

We wish to have interview in late January if at all possible.

You are right, Bamellis. We can be together for Christmas, actually we live quite close to each other, so there is a "silver lining". But I guess I would have thought we'd have been together, as in I would be living down there by that point. Oh well, we'll make it work. Only a month after Christmas and we will be together forever, so there's something to look forward to!

I am thankful for many things, not the least of which is meeting the man of my dreams and to be marrying him... and while nothing is on a timeline I'd like, at least I know it's going somewhere, right?

Woo hoo.. I'm cleaning out my house too.. keeping the major things just in case I get a denial, so just the usual spring cleaning, but deeper LOL.

2nd Dec is not far away.. So happy for you.

Update from me. I finally have medical results as of yesterday, my fiances/co-sponsors paperwork is currently in route which should be arriving any day now. I have certified copies of courts orders (child custody) and I have assembled my part of packet 3 to send back to Sydney as soon as the I-134 arrive. And if the Australian timelines are going as they were 2 weeks ago, I should have interview end of this month or first week of Dec. I have found some flights which will save me $1500 and if everything goes to plan, I'll be flying out 19th Dec (no tickets booked yet).

Been gone a week, just enjoying some alone time with F and also to celebrate!lol!

My CEAC status is still on READY-your case is open..i will check by Monday if there were any change.. My F just reserve a seat for me for Dec 07 flight to LAX. hopefully my visa will delivered before that time..

Have most countries been giving you an idea of when to expect your visa after the interview? My fiancee and I really hope we can get it within 10 days so he can fly out of the 6th. I actually have a long weekend off of work so that would be so perfect. I just wonder if they will actually tell us when so we know for sure that it's safe to book the trip. Of course, most curious about Brazil but i know there are just a few of us who are going through Rio de Janeiro so in general are they telling you and how long is it averaging? I know recently I've seen people post that they hope they'll get their visas by a certain date so it has me a little curious.

Woo hoo.. Congrats on the last thing you have to do before POE. So happy for you.

I'm waiting by the mailbox for documents from my fiance. I was hoping they would arrive today, but hopefully tomorrow. My hopes of getting to USA before christmas is looking slim. My eldest son graduates primary school on 15th Dec and then we are free to leave. Sydney embassy are quite fast for packet 4 and interview dates, but then waiting for visa and packing up the house and selling car etc isn't going to be easy. I haven't given up yet, I've come this far, it will be worth it when the day comes
