So, after 3 calls to the NVC today. I finally have some results!

After receiving a checklist (on the phone, I haven't gotten one in my email yet) for my original marriage certificate (which was already sent) and my W2s (which don't exist because I claim purely foreign income), I asked for a supervisor review for the marriage certificate (15 day wait), and was told to wait for the checklist and send a letter explaining why I don't have W2s. Well, I didn't really like that answer and called back and asked to talk to a supervisor in order to explain the situation. I was very rudely turned down. I decided to call again tonight. Got a guy this time, who talked at lightening speed, and acted like doing his job was going to kill him. After providing the necessary information I specifically asked for a Tier 2 Representative. He told me he would look, put me on hold for literally 2 seconds and comes back to tell me he can't find one! rofl.gif I asked if I could hold some more and he could look again, and he rudely responded he couldn't keep me on hold all night, but would look again. A few moments later he connects me to a supervisor. (How hard was that?!)

I then talked to the supervisor, her name was Silvia, and she was great! She is going to personally review my file and email me since I live abroad and she can't call me. She said I can call back if I need more details, and that she will keep my file on her desk for a few days.

Moral of the story: DON'T GIVE UP and don't let the minions keep you from talking to someone who can get the job done! content.gif

I did something similar, and made a new friend, my fav supervisor. I write of her, at times, here at VJ.

IMO, when one has a different situation than most, is best to 'have a friend' at the supervisor level. I don't think it should be for everyone reading this, but if one has a different situation, that would benefit from eyeballs at a supervisor level - by all means, get one.

Also, IMO, if'n you can control the conversation AFTER the biodata check, in a FUN way (fun to you and the NVC TeleOperator) then you can get what you need. Being Fun is a godsend, IMO, as it helps that NVC TeleOperator to shift , a bit, out of 'auto-mode', actually listen to you, and perhaps have 2 seconds of empathy for what yer trying to get done. It's been working for me and a few others.....

So, when I call in to check on stuff that I know my fav supervisor has been looking at , after we get through the biodata check and I hear 'How can I help you?' - I ask for my fav supervisor, and always, I'm asked - what's she working on for ya? I always say - 'we've been working on some stuff for the casefile and I'm following up to give her some more info' - and 9 times out of 10, I am transferred. That other time? She's not available at the moment.

Stay focused, be light and airy, keep it fun for the NVC TeleOperator, and stay UP!. Incredulity and being acerbic is totally lost on a NVC TeleOperator - I suggest you don't bring that to the conversation.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Almost 3 weeks after contacting the NVCResearch to locate our file, I received the "acceptance" email:

"Please be advised that the National Visa Center (NVC) has received your inquiry and the attached I-797 Notice of Action – Approval Notice. Unfortunately, we do not have record of receiving your approved petition from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. The NVC will contact USCIS on your behalf for information on the location of this petition."

They must be really backed up if it takes them 3 weeks to follow up on emails.

Few days after sending it I realized I reversed month/date on beneficiary's date of birth, so I resent the email. Hopefully they'll get to the other email soon to be able to track correctly.

It's been now more than 6 weeks since the approval. The congressional liaison so far only confirmed that our file was at the local office, but they are not able to give the exact date our case was shipped. The office told her that they had a big shipment going out on Fri, May 10th to NVC, so we are hopping our file is in there. So, hopefully by Monday, the 20th, NVC will open those boxes and tell us our file is in their hands. Fingers crossed!
