In May 2014 I would be required to remove conditions on my green card. My current passport will expire in December 2013. I am having difficulties obtaining a new one. With this be a problem at the time of removal of conditions?

05/22/2012 - MAILED AOS PACKAGE.
06/04/2012 - RECEIVED NOTICE IN THE MAIL.
06/04/2012 - RECEIVED BIOMETRICS APPOINTMENT IN THE MAIL.
06/06/2012 - WALK IN BIOMETRICS COMPLETED.
07/11/2012 - TEXT AND EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS OF I-485 INTERVIEW APPOINTMENT.
07/13/2012 - RECEIVED HARD COPY OF INTERVIEW NOTICE IN THE MAIL.
07/28/2012 - EAD CARD PRODUCTION ORDER.
08/04/2012 - EAD CARD IN HAND.
08/15/2012 - GC INTERVIEW. APPROVED. PASSPORT STAMPED.
08/20/2012 - GC CARD PRODUCTION ORDERED.
08/23/2012 - GC RECEIVED.

06/28/2014 - MAILED I-751 PACKAGE

07/05/2014 - RECEIVED NOA 1

01/15/2016 - Interviewed and Approved.

No, it won't be a problem. You are not required to provide a copy of your passport when filing the I-751 removal of conditions petition.

CR-1 VISA

2010-06-01: Get Married!!!

2010-06-15: Mail out I-130 - Petition for Alien Relative

2010-06-22: I-130 NOA1
2010-09-30: I-130 NOA2
2011-01-26: Interview - APPROVED! (7 months, 4 days)
2011-02-02: Visa issued and in hand!

All you need is a valid government ID. Does not have to be a passport.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

You will not need a copy of your passport to file for citizenship either.

Nowhere in the N-400 instructions on the USCIS website - http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/n-400instr.pdf - does it specify sending in passports. Please supply supporting documentation for this requirement for the OP's benefit.

I think the only problem you will have is when you want to travel anywhere. Obviously you will need an unexpired passport.

I don't really plan on traveling anytime soon. My wife and step sons are here in the US.

Seriously? I just became a US citizen and it clearly states in the letter you get that they require all passports at the interview.

This info is not stated in any of the online instructions. Thank you for sharing your experience.

Actually it is listed here and on the N-659. http://www.uscis.gov...PDFs/G-1151.pdf

Its also stated in the instructions they personally send you. You are also directly asked in the interview for your expired and valid passports to be placed on the table.

The document check list clearly states ALL PASSPORTS AND TRAVEL DOCUMENTS. On the N-659 interview document checklist.
