Good Day,

I'm a PR through fiance visa, and have lived in the States with my wife since 2007. I'm planning on applying for citizenship this Spring, and had a quick question. For the past 3.5 years we have lived in an apartment that we've paid month to month, with no lease. We have utility bills etc with both our names on that are addressed to our place, but I'm worried slightly that the lack of a formal lease might look suspicious. Is there evidence anyone would suggest to counter this? I'm thinking a notarized letter from the landlord and potentially our neighbors.

Many Thanks.

Make sure you have tax transcripts, usually the USCIS will ask for that. Getting a notarized letter from your landlord would help as well as all the bills with both your names on it.

Lack of a lease by itself won't be a problem. Joint bills are good, what about other things such as joint names on ar insurance, joint bank account, filing taxes jointly?

For how long have you been a Permanent Resident? Why not just apply on a 5 year rule at this point...

You don't need evidence of bonafide marriage so, as you have been a greencard holder for more than 5 years.
