I'm sure it's been asked a million times before but while our CR-1 is being processed, could he visit and live here on a tourist visa?

I'm new here and it's really comforting to see that I'm not the only person who's like a chicken without a head when it comes to all of this! :P

He can visitm but for no longer than what is allowed in his I-94. He should have means to show strong ties with his home country upon arrival.

He can't visit and LIVE here on a tourist visa. He can VISIT on a tourist visa. However, if he is from a country that requires such a visa it is possible that he would be denied it during the process if they don't believe he is planning to return to his home country.

Yeah, definitely don't say he is going to live here. My husband visited for almost 3 months over the holidays, and he was about to make that mistake, but I told him he was going to run afoul of Immigration if he told them he was coming here to LIVE. They wouldn't even hear "...for 85 days and here's my return ticket". Lots and lots of people jump ship in the US and stay illegally, and never use the other half of their round trip ticket. So be careful what you say.

I'm a dual US/Hungarian citizen (both by birth; Hungarian citizenship verification TBA), and my husband is a dual British/Irish citizen (by treaty) from Northern Ireland. We are atheists.

15 May 2014: Received formal residency/work permission (GNIB card with Stamp 4, one year renewable) for the ROI
