Just wondering here are a few questions to beneficiary's from Algeria. Just trying to see what my fiance will expect.

Was your interview in English,Arabic or French?

What where you asked?

How long did it take to get approved and for him/her to be finally with you in the US?

My husband chose to do his interview in English, although French is an option as well. One of the officers at the embassy told me after the fact they like to see the interviews done in English as it proves to them there is good communication and they will be able to find a job easier if they speak English well. So it's your fiance's call and how comfortable they are speaking and understanding English - but we opted for all the help we could get!

Approval will vary for everyone as it depends on if they go into AP or not, etc. There can be many factors involved. For instance in our case we had an approval with an email saying he would receive his visa in the following week - but in all reality it was a full month later as they were pretty short staffed.

Mehdali--the important question is what language do you and your fiancé speak to each other in, communicate by letter, or email or messaging in?

If it's English you guys communicate in, your fiancé is going to have a tough time proving you guys have a legitimate relationship if he decides to have his interview in French and can't or won't have the interview in English. But say you guys have always fluently spoke French when communicating with each other- in that case, no one at the consulate cares if your fiancé can speak English or not then. I have never heard of French speaking couples denied for their exclusive French speaking, ever. English fluency helps in lots of things here, after having moved to the US, but is not a universal requirement.

Hello I live in Algeria, but we went through the process. You can the option of English or French. There's a few Arabic speaking officers but they're just locals working there.

Hey all, my wife had her interview and was told she is approved. They did not ask many questions, just when we knew each other and when we got married.

At the end of the interview they told her she is approved but her visa will be available ONE month from now as apparently they work the visas on monthly basis. Another person was at the embassy that same day and they told her the same thing.

Did anyone go through this same experience? I am worried if this means AP... :-(

I wonder about this too... it seems there's been several DZ approvals here recently that are still waiting on the visa . Our case says "issued" on the CEAC website since last week, but no idea when it will be received. Maybe all of us will receive them within the month.

Good idea! I just checked on CEAC and it says the visa has been printed... still don't understand why they are not giving it to us... :-(

Your visa has been printed. Depending on local procedures at the location where you were interviewed, your visa will be mailed or available for pickup soon. If there are further questions, or if we need updated contact information, you will be contacted.

The Algerian embassy sends visas out in batches to the UPS, not individually.

I am sure yours will be out with the next batch sent. You guys can always call the UPS in Algiers to keep posted. They let us know when they heard the next embassy shipment was coming in.

What's strange is they gave my wife an appointment e/o May to get her visa (??)

I will write an email to them asking what's up with this as I am totally confused.

Sounds like a good plan!

This is the first I heard of an appointment to get a visa at this embassy. They have always sent them thorugh UPS, as they do not trust local mail and have never allowed pick ups in the past.

Yugo- do you mind to keep me updated what you hear for your wife receiving the visa in-hand.

MedRoni- did UPS send notice to your husband and he went to pick it up at a facility? That's how DHL and FedEx did it whenever I sent stuff, but maybe this is different.
