I read on the guides that for a K-1 visa you have to have the original copy of the I-129F packet that was mailed to USCIS, but the copies I had were accidentally destroyed! what am I going to do without it?? is it very important to have the copies of the original petition?

thank u so much in advance :help::crying:

hi there

at the interview they are interested in things you put in the orginal packet that were copies such as photo's and birth certificates

i had my original copy of the petition and it wasnt asked for...its mainly for your own records...knowing what dates for you put down and your fiance did...things like that...if your worried about it ask your fiance to send you his copy over to you...

good luck

kath

P.S. DON'T FORGET TO FILL IN YOUR TIMELINE..IT HELP A GREAT DEAL IN ANSWERING YOUR QUESTIONS AND ALSO FOR THE STATS ON VJ...

Filed: Timeline

christinab,

It can sometimes be helpful for the visa applicant to know what information was submitted with the petition so that they can appropriately answer any interview questions that might be taken from information in the petition package.

What is important for the visa applicant to have at the interview is the 'original' of photocopies of required documents that were submitted with the petition - things like birth certificates, divorce certificates, or death certificates. A consular (or USCIS) officer can ask at any time to see the original of photocopied documents to verify the photocopy, and it is quite common for a consular officer to spot check an item or two.
