6 month wait for marriage certificate?

Well I went to the philippines got married. My wife signed some papers for lawyer. We were told by the lawyer the marriage certificate would take 3-4 weeks to get. But in Calapan they told her its about a 6 month wait because certifying it for international is different. Is this true? If it is then I think my lawyer is outdated in his immigration law. >.< Also if this is true we won't be together then for at least a year and half now. :(

Also when does my wife change her name on her passport and all that? Aside from her passport does she need to change it on anything else before she comes here? Thanks much.

I didn't get a international certificate.

Mine I had in a week. The NSO took 3 weeks for their copy

Passport is optional. My wife will chsnge her name on hers after being in the USA. .

I think they said its 6 months also because she lives on another island. If she gets a non-international certificate copy (the one that takes just weeks) will that still be ok for when applying for the spousal visa? I think they told her she needs different certification for it to come to america. I know my lawyer said the laws change often so maybe the laws changed within the last few months. Not sure.

I'd contact that site (I actually looked at them when we planned on meeting) but I already have a lawyer who I paid. >.<

I hand-carried ours home with me to the USA a week after we got married. Used it for all official government issues with the military where they needed the original.

Normal processing for newly married couples to get their NSO marriage certificate is 6 MONTHS. That's how long it will take NSO head office to put your marriage in their archives. Same with newly filed birth certificates.

The copy from the Local Civil Registry is different because that is not printed on NSO security paper. The MC printed on NSO security paper (SECPA) is the official marriage certificate and the one used in the NVC stage, embassy interview and even at the DFA (for married women wanting to use their married name).

I was able to get our NSO MC fast because I applied for ADVANCE ENDORSEMENT at the Local Civil Registry (LCR) when we submitted our marriage certificate immediately after getting married. Instead of waiting 6 MONTHS, we got the NSO MC in 2 MONTHS. Refer to my signature.

Ah ok I see. Makes sense. Not sure why its so slow there. OH well not much I can do about it I guess. I know there are people that have offered me "quick fixes" which I read are just scams.

Now my lawyer had my wife sign papers after the wedding using her newlywed name. Will that be a problem when she gets to the embassy for her interview? More so since her passport will use her old name? I read to she needs shots. I am not sure when she should get them and if my lawyer would have told me about it. Hes nice but I think hes a little bit behind on the rules in the philippines. I also read she has to bring the tax records of my father (the sponsor) and stuff like that (such as photos together). But my lawyer said he would take care of that. So does that mean whatever he sends will be stored for when she goes for the interview? Or does she still need her own copy to bring?
