Sending an incomplete DS230?

Hello,

My AOS was approved last month, and we have everything ready for the DS230 Application to send, except 1 piece of paper (police report).

I just found out it will be one more month before it arrives.

Is it better to send the DS230 without it and let them begin processing, or would it be better to wait and mail it all together?

Thanks,

-Rick

Regardless, they won't be able to accept the IV packet until you get the police report and send it out, and then it will take another week or so for them to process it. Honestly, it probably doesn't make much of a difference. Either way it's going to be held up, and you'll have to wait that extra month for the police report to come through until you can get a case complete.

it will be incomplete and you will get a checklist for it, so you may as well just wait until you have it in your hands and then mail the the COMPLETE IV pkt.

You can send the IV application now with a request that your case be closed, despite the missing police report, and that you'll bring the original police report to the interview as it'll be another month until you receive it. I've seen this work in the past yes.gif

Just write up a simple letter, doesn't have to be long, just a paragraph or two. Explain that you're waiting for the police certificate, how long it will take. Then request that your case be closed upon review and that you'll bring the police report with you to the interview. Simple as that.

Keep in mind, this isn't guaranteed for the request to be accepted. But it's worth a shot!
