Hi,

I am in US and my fiancee is in Rio. Can I buy a ticket online and she can use the e ticket in Rio? Or I have to buy a paper ticket and send it to her? Or she has to buy the ticket in Rio?

Thanks.

Either way is fine! E-ticket, paper ticket... it doesn't matter. I've always used e-tickets and have never had a single problem.

You can perfectly buy the e-ticket online and have her print it out here... I don't see why it shouldn't be allowed.

Good luck!

When my fiancé came here, I bought his tickets using a travel agency, for some reason I can't remember right now, they couldn't be e-tickets, so they had do issue him a PTA. He only had to go to the air company's desk at the airport with an ID card to get his tickets.

He's the one buying the tickets for me now, and he told me that some online "travel agencies" will only sell tickets leaving the US.

If you can find online tickets leaving from Rio, she will have no problems.

www.expedia.com, www.travelocity.com, www.tam.com.br, www.continental.com, www.delta.com, etc...

you can just buy them and ask your fiance to just print them out here.

If you use a travel agent in Brazil to buy a ticket for someone in the US, then you can't use an e-ticket. But I have never had a hard time using the e-tickets we got online...

Most airlines sell e-tickets directly and have good deals, or you can try those e-travel agencies that will also work with e-tickets.

I got her an e ticket online, then she printed it in Brazil.

Paper ticket is not necessary and is likely a surcharge for it.

Another option is she check with a local travel's agent, usually it's cheaper buying that way, and you send her the money throught Western Union. Good luck!

I agree. Travel agents have deals with air companies and they do get better deals...

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.

Sometimes they have deals... and I bet under the right circumstances you could get them to charge it to your credit card (versus using WU). At least I could when I did this in BsAs, and as I understand it Brazil is a country of much higher classification than lowly Argentina... :P

SOooOooo how much are people spending these days? We're looking around right now for a good Guarulhos to JFK flight for February. Oh we sort of want to use the "10x sem juros!!!!" approach so he can come here sooner.

PS this is because he sent in packet 3 today since we found out on Tuesday that our petition arrived in Rio. Happy Thanksgiving! I'm thankful for my proactive boyfriend! :)

Alex,

I had some friends visiting me last july and had to go to my bank to find some things out. The "10x sem juros!!!!" thingy only works if you're using a CC issued in Brasil.
