hi VJ'ers

Why is prohibited to go to the states while this visa is processing? or Is it wrong to say that ?

because everyone is crying , THIS WAITING IS KILLING ME i miss him/her etc ?? so I assume it is not possible to go ? and if so WHY ?

No its not prohibited or illegal. many of us have love ones in countries that getting a visitor Visa even before we file is near to impossible.

Many people from VWP countries or those that use ESTA's usually have no issues with good documentation at border. Sometimes they just get passed through. It's all about the country the love one is coming from.

The only thing you are risking is the money you spent on your plane ticket ( one round trip ticket purchased before the trip and a one way ticket bought on the spot in case you get sent back ) plus the time spent traveling. If you can afford that , give it a shot. In the end it is at the discretion of the IO if he believes you will return to your country or if you will stay in the US and adjust status from there. What country are you from?

It's possible to go and many of us do - see this long thread:

However, many people can't afford multiple trips or have jobs that they can't get sufficient time off from to travel to the US.

You don't generally have to buy a one way ticket to come back. The airline usually use the return portion of your round trip ticket to send you back.
