I feel you smiling from here. I so remember when my case was missing for 30 days between USCIS and NVC. Just the relief of knowing where it is was so nice. Well soon soon CASE COMPLETE.!!

Could someone please explain this to me:

The steps say that once the approved petition is send to NVC, to call NVC to get the case number, and then call AGAIN to give them the email addresses.

I keep reading this and don't get why I would have to call twice. Why can't I call to get NVC case number, and when they give it to me, then right away give them the emails?

Are those two different numbers I am supposed to call?

For the first call, 1 (603) 334-0700, it says I might be able to get NVC number from the AVR (automated voice response system), but when I call, it right away puts me on wait to speak to someone, not an automated system.

What am I missing?

Was it ever scanned? I ask, because IF you scanned it, can use it with Electronic Processing at NVC and get a new one made in China.

You have the red book, right? Can get a new white book, anytime.

They got rid of the AVR months ago. The reason it says to call twice is that sometimes the rep will tell you they aren't ready to take your email address and to call back the next day - but by all means, as soon as you can get your case numbers, try to give them your email address right then! I did it all in one call, so it's definitely possible.

I sent my OPTIN e-mail the next day and filled out the DS-261 right after that.

I’m not sure why I waited the day though.

Sure u can give them ur emails and ask for the INN as well . i was given both numbers and gave them our emails in the same call

Was wondering if any one knows an answer to this question, the person that was supposed to co-sponsor for us backed up on us. luckly we found another person that qualifies, however this person wants to know if her credit would be checked. Does any know if the NVC does a credit check on the sponsors? Thank You

No credit check is not done. has nothing to do with immigration. Co-sponsor just needs to show proof of being a citizen or LPR. That's it

I am assuming your case is going through the Guangzhou consulate? If so, you should wait until you receive the invoice for your AOS bill before sending the OPTIN. Apparently it causes a delay if you do it before then and you are going through Guangzhou.

Ok so I have a super silly question. Is the Department of State the same thing as NVC? I ask because when I type in my case number on the USCIS website I get this message:

"On April 3, 2013, we shipped this approved or re-affirmed case to the Department of State for visa processing."

And at the bottom it says: For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State.

So it makes it sound like they are two different things. Is there any difference if it is sent to NVC or to Dos?

NO.

FOR EP Cases for Guangzhou, MUST to wait for AOS FEE BILL to arrive in petitioner's email INBOX.

How to get that, you ask? Call NVC daily, ask 'Please email AOS FEE BILL today'.

Once ya got it, can opt in. Is anomoly with casefiles headed to Guangzhou - we don't know why, but that's how it is.

guys, the NVC took the money out of my bank account, but it still shows in progress on the pay portal. I already send the papers, so that is no issue! I am just concerned if anyone went thru something like this!
