I work. I can call, but really, what would that result in?

Right now, it's just been resulting in busy signals.

oh oh! I just tried one more time and now i'm on hold.

Let's hope this doesn't take TOO long.

Let's hope you get someone fast!

And remember, they're open until midnight (eastern), so you can always call after work.

1- The NVC Hold line has the same hold music as one of my vendors

2- It's very misleading when the hold music stops and this little nerdy recorded man voice tells me all of the representatives are busy with other callers because he takes a big breath first and it sounds like someone is picking up... but then NOPE

Oh god no, I would never.

That would result in me actually calling on my cell phone.

I enjoy sitting here with a headset on instead.

I've just been spoiled because I call at 730am and always get right through.

I feel like i'm making better time than the timelines I've looked.

I feel like i'm about 10-14 days ahead of current avgs.

Got it. That old lady was crotchety.

"I just need the beneficiary identification number"

"Okay but LET ME explain something to you. You can have it, but you can't do anything with it"

"Okay yes I understand that" (Thinking 'lady, I don't even know yet what I need it for')

"XXXXXXXXXX"

"That's the IIN"

"Yes"

"I need the BIN"

"XXXXXXXXXXX"

"Okay thank you!"

"Yeah....sure...."

1. Yeah, I called some company a few months back, can't remember who, and not only was it the same music, but the exact same recorded voices! It felt EXACTLY like I was calling NVC again laughing.gif

2. Even after days of knowing this would happen, I'd get excited nonetheless when the music stopped as I thought I'd finally gotten through headbonk.gif

I always called around 5pm (eastern) and got through within just a couple of minutes. Barely any waiting. I've heard calling late at night, right before they close, is a good time as well. You can always plug a headset into your cellphone :P

I am curious on the interview scheduling. I called the Bermuda embassy and they told me they are waiting on NVC that they have the dates. NVC told me they are waiting on the Bermuda embassy. I do not understand how it takes this long to schedule an interview especially since I was told by both NVC and the embassy that there were May dates available.

Love all the shortcuts, faqs, and flowcharts on VJ... but none seem to address those of us filing i864w instead of i864.

You're right, there isn't much info about the I-864W around here. This topic also comes up with people immigrating the child of a US Citizen (who became a citizen after the birth of the child), as there is a sub-group of children who will immediately become American citizens when they enter the US with an IR-2 visa - thus they don't need an Affidavit of Support sponsor since they will be citizens, not permanent residents .... I spent a LOT of time trying to find out information about this. If you search VJ for "864W" you will find a few threads, one of which was linked in one of the earlier replies. Most apply to your situation of a spouse who already worked more than 10 years in the US.

Curious if any of you know:

-Do we still pay AOS fee to NVC if we are exempt from 864? How do we handle this and not cause confusion (i.e. delays)?

YES, unfortunately, we still have to pay the fee. Just pay it as everyone else does through the portal, then print the coversheet with barcode.

-Does i-864w tend to take any longer or less than the normal 864 process?

Don't know yet. Hopefully not! Ours is processing currently.

-The 864 is for the petitioner to file. But the 864w is for the beneficiary to file. Do how does this effect the NVC process?

I found this interesting too. In our case, the beneficiary who signed the form is a 16-year-old boy. I included the bare minimum information needed to verify that the conditions for the I-864W were met - in our case: he is under 18 years old, he has a US Citizen father, so I included: 1) a copy of his birth certificate showing of course DOB and father's name and 2) a copy of his father's American passport bio page, proving US Citizenship. I sent both together in the same envelope, but they could certainly come separately since they are separated at NVC anyway. You would include whatever proves that the 10 years of work were completed.

Any feedback much appreciated.
