Question On Police Report and Medical

I'm doing due diligence on couple of things.

Now that I have NOA2 I am preparing for NVC.

My Wife did her physical exam and police report on 10/12/2012.

According to Lagos Embassy website:

"● Medical Exam: Arrange for a medical examination by one of the physicians listed below. Please note

that there is a charge for the examination, and that the exam must have been conducted in the last 6 months.

A medical exam is required for all applicants, regardless of age."

and

"● A police certificate. Applicants age 16 or older must submit a police certificate for all countries in which

they have resided for more than one year after reaching age 16. The police certificate must have been issued

less than 1 year ago. This packet contains instructions for obtaining your police report."

So this means that Wifey should get another medical done but the police report should still be okay.

She attended a K1 interview and was denied but they kept the police report. WIll the police report be on the embassy file or do we have to go get another one?

Thanks for any insight.

Again congrats!

She will need to get both of them again. For Nigeria, the medical is good for 6months(last i heard) and she needs a current one for her interview so the validity will expire by april 2013. The good thing is that she should be good with the shots since she must have had them last time. They will just do the basic stuff next time.

The police report is good for 3 months only so that means that expired already. i would suggest she waits till you are set to submit your IV package to NVC before getting another one so that it can still be good by her interview date.

Best wishes.

I emailed the embassy two weeks ago about my husband's police report and the statement you highlighted above concerning the police report having been issued one year ago and they replied that I must come with a new police report even though we just got one in December 2012.

Of course these COs can be VERY unpredictable. My mum's police report was expired at the time of her interview so we got her a new one but they NEVER asked her for it and she went home with it...money wasted( still i wnt take a chance). She told me there was a woman she met inside that day whose Visa was approved but pending the submission of a new police certificate. When they got outside, the woman made a phone call to her US based Husband and complained about his "I too know" cos apparently they had deliberated on the issue and he managed to convince her not to get another P Cert. and now her visa is being delayed.

I would say DO NOT get the police report yet. NVC seems to have hit a wall lately. It could take you a month to get a case number, a month to get case complete, another month for interview. There's your 3 months right there. But of course, it could take much longer. they could lose your case, they could not schedule you on time and you have to wait another month....you know the deal. I have a friend right now who waited for case number to get the police report and she STILL HAS NOT BEEN SCHEDULE AN INTERVIEW!!! and she did everything on time. It's NVC taking forever. So she will have to get ANOTHER police certificate....just from waiting at NVC.

Sorry for the rambling....but wait!

My husband had his interview on Friday. I had him obtain new EVERYTHING that had a potential of AP until received. I updated all financials also. Even though we had sent everything to NVC in Jan I didnt want to take a chance. Also I brought everything to the interview. Petition additional evidence, etc anything that was mailed to USCIS and NVC was taken to the interview and good thing I did because the CO went through it all and kept asking for more from the 9# of paperwork, he looked at every picture and every page of 2 years of phone records and emails etc. Only thing is that even that I packaged originals and copies separate with instructions of what to keep and what to return they kept EVERYTHING. My husband asked for the originals back ( which included all of my proof of income , 2012 taxes etc) the CO told him tell your wife they will be sent back to the US and she will receive them in the mail. :bonk: Oh well I will have to deal with that! At least my baby is returning with me to the states next week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SO I would advise you its way to early to obtain new Medical and Police report. You shouldnt have medical done until you receive the interview letter from NVC also that would be a good time for a new Police report.

No. You need to have your wife get police report once you get your case# and send your DS-3032. remember that form once accepted generates the IV Bill invoice and the DS-230 side of the process. This will save you a month trust me.

Even though that statement on embassy website says "The police certificate must have been issued less than 1 year ago." that is a false statement. many many people I know have had to get not one. not two but 3 or 4 police reports for Nigeria. I have a friend took so long at NVC because they were hung up on the AOS and police report expired they would not case complete until they sent a new one. By interview they had to get another one Ay interview they got a 221G to submit phone records that took so long they had to get another one. all this within a span of 4 months.

You will have to submit another for NVC because they will not have anything from before because they didn't process you. So again wait until you have case# than you can start ordering up things.

Issue is that I have two Brothers at home now who can mule the certificate back to me gratis in two weeks.

I have a feeling that I will be in NVC quickly. NVC won't process my documents without police report right?

I'll hope that in case of delay at NVC that they will allow her to take a fresh one to the interview.

Regarding stuff for NVC, do I need to include originals of my divorce decrees or are they asking for beneficiaries divorce decrees if applicable?

I should know this but I plumb forgot.

Wifey just received her new Police reprot. At the top it says Police Character Certificate.

The Embassy instructions says "Police Clearance Certificate" but the one she just collected says "Police Character Certificate".

Is it the same thing or did she collect the wrong one?
