Try this - after you rinse the fish off pat them dry then coat with flour, then dip in egg, then coat with bread crumbs, and of course salt and pepper as you fry them up. Not saying your wife will like 'em but they are good! I use to do just the flour thing but this is way better.

I've used different breading mixes on them to. But personally I prefer just a touch of flour on Walleye. I think she preferred some of the different breading mixes better than just light flour, but she still like her marinated and fried with nothing way the best. Its good so I'm not complaining.

She did like the Cajun Shore lunch I used for a bit. Wonder if its the same brand you used? But I didn't dip it in egg first. Might have to pick it up and try it on her again.

Yes, you can buy at Gander mountain or some fishing stores. It is really good. Cajun gives it a little kick and the wife loves it. Even did some halibut chunks with it and it was better than my flafal recipe..

We even took a few bixes back to the PI last month and used it on those little fish.. Everyone who tried liked it alot, or they just said so. But it dissapered fast..

Ok, here is a question focused mostly at those who have been recipients of a K-1/K-3/etc. visa.

What do you miss most from the Philippines? What was your biggest adjustments to life in the United States? What did your spouse do or could have done to make the transition the most comfortable?

Here is why I ask. I had lived in the Philippines for a short while. I know that for myself there was some irritating adjustments. Some foods and comforts were not available while I was there.

I love my Ann dearly and want to save her some of the discomfort I had felt.

I have sought out Filipino foods and snacks. I have made sure it possible for her to watch any Filipino TV programs or movies, and listen to local radio programming. I know all the best Filipino restaurants here, the Filipino community center, even found where a mass is performed in Tagalog. We have plans for howto keep her in easy contact with family and friends.

While I am forced to wait for our NOA2 and watch as CSC gets slower and slower, preparing things for her acts as a exercise in keeping my sanity without her.

The food .. Get them the food. Don't assume you think you know what they will want because you will probably be wrong. Then seek out some local pinay. It's really easy. If you meet one somewhere tell her your fiancee is coming. Lot's of times they want to help and meet her right away. That makes it easy. I already had many Pinoy friends when my wife got here.

I was very worried about things like this before my fiancé came over last August too. I set up DirecTv Philippines package. Not a lots of channels, but she has a lot of shows that she can watch, including TV Patrol and things so she knows the news back home. Luckily we have a Seafood City about 30 minutes from us, we go probably once a month and stock up on noodles, soy sauce (the 'right' kind, only Silver Swan) and other Filipino foods, fresh fish, dried fish, Ube cakes, etc. Then I set up Vonage Globe Unlimited.

This was huge. I think it's the biggest and best thing someone can do for their wife or spouse. It has two big benefits, first, she can call nearly anyone in the Philippines any time she wants. Yes she uses Skype, Viber, Tango for a lot of her friends who have iPhones or constant internet access, but when wanting to reach her friends and family in the province, this makes is possible. Second benefit, they can't call US! It's only one way, so we don't get constant calls asking for money. Well, of course we still get asked for money all the time. I always budget a bit of money to help her family, always as 'loans' but of course not one of them has ever been paid back.

Then every couple of months we send a Balikbayan box back to Ph. Costs about $50, we toss in there lots of varied things, I think that helps her still feel connected too.

And then search out Filipinos in your area too. We found a community center for Filipinos not too far, she's made a few friends there. She also signed up for an adult extension ESL class, and she has made some good friends there too. My job can be crazy, so trying hard to help her establish her own circle of friends, etc. She's getting there.

I know that still the biggest thing she struggles with, missing all her close friends (at least she can be in contact with them a lot) and also the freedom of getting around. Where I live, she can walk to town and there are things to do, but without a car yet, it's hard. She's still learning to drive, and I hope to get her a car this summer and concentrate on getting her license for her.

I think it's admirable that you're trying to help on these things. I can't imaging how hard it would be for someone to come over who'd spouse / fiancé hadn't even thought of things like this, and who was impervious to how hard it must ben to uproot and come to a new country.

So good on ya!
